The first ever RyukyuFishing.com tournament is going to be held April 12, 2008.
I would like to point out that this tournament is just for fun! There will be no fees or costs beyond your portion of the boat charter! This is really just and excuse to make new friends and fish!
I put the word out to a few captains and told them what we wanted and Captain Chris and his friends at Awase Port came back with the best price per boat and the possibility of chartering 1 to 3 boats depending on what we need. Thanks Captain Chris!
The show up time for the trip will be 0500, or as soon as you can get there from base if necessary, and we should be returning between 1600 and 1800. I would love to move the show up time earlier if the curfew changes. The cost will be 8,800 yen per person and have to be paid in full 7 days before the trip (Due no later than April 5, 2008). I will work out meeting everybody to collect money etc... All bait and ice will be provided, and for an additional fee, Captain Chris will provide you a pole and all of your terminal tackle for the day. You are welcome to bring any additional bait (secret big fish bait etc...) on the trip with you.
The charter cost is set up by boat so it is necessary to fill each boat entirely. For example if we have 1 boat we need 8 participants, 2 boats we need 16 participants, or 3 boats we need 24 participants. I'll be working hard and keeping everyone informed as to how many boats we have filled and how many more participants we need.
Tournament Rules & Prizes
Again this is all for fun... and maybe a few bragging rights!
Rules:
1. Have fun and get to know other people!
2. No troll fish will count in the tournament.
3. You will be responsible for marking you fish on the boat so you can identify it back at the port. (you might want to have that discussion on the boat to ensure two people aren't making fish the same way.
4. Any species of fish will count (other fishermen do not count).
5. Follow the boat captains orders at all times.
Prizes:
The good thing is, since your only paying the cost of fishing, what ever you win will be a bonus. I have some standard certificates etc... but I am actually in the process of getting a few items donated to us, so I will let you know as new items become available.
