View Full Version : All Japan Spring Invitational Boys Baseball Tournament!
Today in the 3rd game, televised on NHK live starting at around 2PM this afternoon, Okinawa Shogakku Senior High School will be playing at the famous Koushien Stadium near Osaka. 第80回選抜高校野球大会 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_High_School_Baseball_Invitational_Tournam ent), The 80th National High School Baseball Invitational Tournament
There are two All Japan HS baseball tournaments during the year Spring and Summer. In summer each prefecture sends a representative to the tournament but the spring tournament is for 32 teams.
So if you have shopping or need to get anywhere this afternoon after 2PM or so would be the best time to go until the game is over. People all over the island will be cheering their "home" team on.:thumbup:
If anyone is interested the game starts in about 2 minutes and is being televised on NHK Channel 2 and RBC Channel 10 off base.

OkiSho's pitcher was throwing at 147 kph in the bottom of the ninth:eek: after throwing over 110 pitches in the game.

Steve 1-0....wish it was 7-0, it was an exciting game.
Okinawa Shogakku goes for another win today! The game starts at 12 and will be broadcast on NHK television channel 2, and switches between that and NHK Channel 12, their opponent today will be Meitoku Gijitsu High School, a noted high school baseball power here in Japan.
Okisho is leading after one inning 2 -0 on a one out 2run homerun!
Through 4 1/2 OkiSho is now leading 3 -0
Well OkiSho won 3-1 and now are in the quarterfinals of the Spring Tournament! :thumbup:
Their next game will be on April 2nd against Nara's Tenri High School, the game is the second of the day and is scheduled to start at 1:30 P.M.

Yes it was, I have heard that Japanese Pro Scouts are interested in him, he is a pretty big teenager by Japanese standards, standing something like 6ft tall. Plus as I think was noted here earlier, he can throw his fastball a little over 90mph. Which isnt too bad considering he is still only 17 years old.
This afternoon, OkiSho will be battling Nara's Tenri High School in the quarter-finals of the Spring Invitational Baseball Tournament.

Yes, that was one of the best baseball games I ever saw. I had to leave the house in the 8th inning though so missed the last 2 runs.
The semi final game will be starting shortly.....:D
Man what a game...OkiSho was behind 2-0, in the bottom of the 8th they scored 4 runs to take the lead....3 outs away from the Championship:thumbup:

Pregame is now on channel 10 and the game will be broadcast on channel 2 nhk and channel 10 rbc.
Both of Okisho's pitchers are going to be awesome in the future I think, they both are at or above 6 feet tall and can throw their fastballs at or just above 90 mph. Not too bad for a 17 year old.
After 2 1/2 innings OkiSho is leading 2-0......:thumbup:

That was a great game...debating on whether or not to head to the airport to cheer them when they come back today at 4:15...should be a fun scene at the airport.

Gonna be a zoo I'll bet, if anyone does plan to go, the monorail would probably be the smartest way to do it!
