Greetings yo.

Been on Okinawa for nearly fourteen years. Have lived outside the US since 1987 in Panama, Korea, and Okinawa. My pidgin Japanese and Korean are, therefore, heavily influenced by rolling r’s.

I lecture under-graduate and graduate students at a local university in research methods, classical and contemporary rhetoric, and psycholinguistics.

My ulterior motive for joining these discussions is twofold: I enjoy and learn a great deal from public discourse, and I think that any republic must maintain a healthy public debate. (I also want to test out new perspectives on old topics before I present them to my students.)

I’ve really appreciated the responses to my earlier posts.

Cheers.

Welcome Ian. I don't mind public debate, as long as you don't mind my spelling, and strongly opinionated perspective! :)

I look forward to hearing your views.

Great to see a member joining with these motives. I am sure I will enjoy reading your posts, whether they agree or disagree with my thoughts.

At which university do you teach? I just got my B.A. in linguistics before moving here, and now have a job that pays for school. Unfortunately, all I can seem to find are classes I've already taken or ones leading to a business degree. I never had the time for psycholing, even though it's what I seem to be most interested in, beyond general applied linguistics. I might be interested in hunting you down.
