Hmmmmmm....I wonder who will be the next Japanese slut to accuse a service member of rape.....

My prediction is for the most part with the odds:

A Junior High Prostitute...........

Can we drop this already? Are you going to bring this into every single debate?

So if a woman accuses a service member of rape she's a slut?

This subject is being brought into every other thread since the lock down and it's getting old. It's not just you.

But I'm going no further on the subject, because it's off topic.

I doubt anything will happen to prevent that sort of thread-derailing soon P_chan. It seems as though the mods are so concerned with tiptoeing around each other, they don't want to take any action at all, lest they offend one another's sensibilities.

I'm just getting sick of people pointing fingers and brining stuff like this up in just about every other thread it seems. It's freaking childish! If you really detest this place and the people here so much, then get the **** out of here! Then maybe it will be easier for me, and others who enjoy this place despite it' downfalls, to stay longer.

I got mixed up while reading the original thread to this. I saw RODs post and directly below it was ee'ls response to your post. Then I got redirected to this thread.

Looks like TP took care of it.:)

Doug, I'm not singling anyone out, but you all seem to have suddenly given up on asking people to indent or use quote tags on material taken from other sites, on linking to sites you quote, on off-topic gamesmanship, and the use of sexist, racist, and that sort of comment in both threads and chat. Has there been some sort of policy change, or are things so bad between mods that you have stopped policing outright?

DougP

There has not been a disconnect between the mods as far as I can tell. The rules have been reviewed a lot and tweaked in recent weeks. The introduction of the chat box presents interesting dilemmas as far as how to issue infractions or how to report violations in the chat box. Also if you happen to spot something that's in violation of the rules or if there are any off topic posts that are clearly derailing a thread, report it.

Any chance of the revised version of the rules being posted as a sticky or some prominent links to the rules being included at the top of main pages...?

It already is. It is a global announcement and shows at the top of every single category in the forum.

so the forum cant be used to vent...sometimes a sexist or racist thought is actually how that person truely feels.

This is the latest, greatest, mother-of-all rules announcement? The alpha and omega, the end-all, be-all word on what goes?

Is it also possible to highlight the changes that were made?

Possibly, but I don't know if that's necessary or even desirable. Why would a new forum member want to see some rules with a bunch of highlighted text. I can understand that current members may want this, but who will likely be reading the rules more? New members or old members?

Maybe a better idea would be to have a changelog thread for rule modifications and additions.

Ok....I can see your point, a changelog thread would be a good idea.

Ok, I'll add one right now with some placeholder text. If one of the mods wants to updated it with the latest changes, he/she is welcome to do so.

03-23-2008, 05:15 PM
where are these changes located?

DougP
03-23-2008, 05:17 PM
Don't get your head wrapped around the changes. Just read the rules, they are up to date. If it looks like there's something in there that you didn't know about previously, its probably a change.:)

DougP

Also what applies to the forums applies to the chat box, except for "free for all Sunday nights" (or whatever that's called)

This probably means there will be some cracking down on language and posting of pornographic links etc. There's a lot of people here who are big on PC. I may not be one of them but I do have to follow the rules and this is a PG-13 forum.

Does that include the Flash Chat??

so this started because of our colrful descriptions of each other and someone got butt hurt and went crying OMG give me a break

DougP

Not sure what started it but some of the rules needed tweaking. It would be kinda cool if we had an adult section like I've seen on other forums. Not sure how we could do that and it would be even harder to enforce(minimum age limits etc.). Everyone needs their little happy place where they can go and say what they want without being persecuted for it. JU however is not that place. I mean it is a happy place, just not that kind of happy.:D

ROD: I'm going to have to get back to you about flash chat.

Crazysix
03-23-2008, 05:39 PM
its ok with the new enforcement policies I will now have opportunities to explore other hobbies besides JU Forums

Hobbies are good. I've found myself spending less time on the forums as well. Don't want to suck up your whole life on this forum. :p

In regards to Flash chat: If you want to be raunchy and non PC, do it in a private room.:thumbup1:

This is only as absurd as TP's stance and comments and, to some, just as shocking and offensive...right?

On people bringing up the Lockdown news scenario...who's gonna take time and LET THIS GO ALREADY!
Look, people...the predjudiced, pompous, prehistoric, pompous pissants who contribute to the air of negativity and predujudice-BOTH American AS WELL as Japanese-will be doing enoug damage, along with the mindless media controlled, gossip-gobbling sheep who dare not think for themselves, will be doing enough damage out there...isn't it time for those of us who know better to take action? Be on the lookout for my thread in about two weeks, and you'll see what I'm talking about. In the meantime, I understand how some of us feel, but I feel it's time to make like His Airness and rise above all this negativity and nonsense. As I used to say in the USMC, "Anyone can complain about a situation, but who will correct it?"

This goes out to everyone...American, Okinawan, Japanese, and anyone else listening. And my apologies for bring this up, but I hope you'll understand why. Thanx 4 your time.

Now I gotta get myself an Ice Cream Sammitch!
