As you drive through certain neighborhoods you see people smiling and waving, thanking us for being here. These folks have had tumultuous history by any standard. They deserve the right to be free. They deserve the right to be safe.

This is great. Glad to see this.
Sad that war is needed to get some of these charities started by former military persons after they have contributed to pulvarizing their lands with shells and bombarment.

Sad, but at least they are now doing something more to help. While there are better circumstances surrounding the start of a charity effort, these circumstances are the ones when it seems most needed.

Agreed, Boost.
But you know what, I think you started this thread to bring awareness to this event, and I agree that is a good thing as well. But, if you don't construct an OP and feed it in a way that is going to entice people to respond and keep visiting, very few eyes will land on it and soon it will be a thread languishing and for all intents and purposes dead. How does that help propel awareness?
I would suggest making your OP thought provocative so that it keeps calling people back. What I see here is people reading this and saying, "Oh, that's nice" and they're gone. Very little commenting or pushing and pulling in a way that may examine other issues related to it on the periphery. But there are.

Thanks for the advice TP, and I would agree that I left this one hanging a bit. Guess I pulled a bit of a blank when it came to adding more content to the OP. And unfortunately not doing much better at this point either :)
