I guess if it is just regular rock, it would have to be The Rolling Stones. I have many favorites, so it's hard to say.

Damn, I was going to start a thread along the same lines. But I'll start a different one now. My favorite is a 3 way tie between The Who, The Doors and The Beatles. The Who alone for just being so ****ing LOUD!!! If it's to loud then you're to old!

Phish and Radiohead

I can never choose a favorite between the two. I love them both and get annoyed by them both on occasion, but I keep coming back to them.

I've always liked the Drifters; i.e. "My Girl", Under the Boardwalk, Save the Last Dance....When they gigged here for one summer about 10 years ago, I caught many shows at one of the Japanese resort hotels. It was cool and they were a very friendly group, really receptive to their audiences.

Love the Femmes too....

Saw them the first time as a college freshman in '82. I went home afterwards and dumped my Zeppelin albums. Saw the Clash the following week and decided to get my first mohawk.

Oh boy!!......it's not easy...but..it's gotta be UFO. Michael Schenker is definitely one of the best lead guitarists IMO. Rock Bottom, Doctor Doctor, Lights Out, I'm a Loser, High Flyers, Natural Thing, Built for Speed, Boogie for George, Loving Cup.......I always thought UFO was very underrated.

Although seeing all of ya'll's choices, I find myself nodding in agreement too. Speaking of The Cult, just yesterday I was thinking about them and Danzig and how I hadn't heard them for a while. They ROCK!!! As far as Queen, I like them and Brian May is in my top 5 favorite guitarists, but they're just a little different.......I've got to be in a certain mood for them. I usually need crunchy, knuckle-draggin', cromagnon, make-ya-wanna-go-130MPH-on-the-freeway metal.

BTW, if anyone ever has a chance to listen to The Cheifs (yes, correct spelling) CD entitled "Holly-West Crisis", it's amazing, at least IMO. A very prominent kick-ass bass player. You can find it and many other neat, weird things here:

Favorite of all time? Like many, it's difficult for me to pick just one. If I use the following criteria: # of albums that I enjoy in their entirety - it would probably be a toss up between Metallica or Collective Soul.

Metallica - Everything from Kill 'Em All up to and including the black album is great. They became "iffy" after that, but their early work is so solid, I'm still proud to call myself a fan.

Collective Soul - IMO, one of the most underrated bands of all time.

Rush is awesome!!! When I was 18, I was at a friend's house listening to "All The World's A Stage", their live album......in an ALTERED STATE. When ANTHEM came on, I remember hearing these words:

Live for yourself, there's no one else...more worth living for...
Begging hands and bleeding hearts will always cry out for more....

I damn near thought Geddy Lee was directing those lyrics at me.....I was like, "WHOA".....just frozen.....how else can you explain me remembering that exact moment so long ago?:D Geez, you'd thought I'd seen a plane crash or something!!

Anyway, Rush rocks.....and I like their lyrics.:)

Agreed.

For recent music, I'm a fan of Godsmack, and Atreyu (sp?). Many others, but, my memory is like a sieve. can't hold squat...
