Here is an article that may concern a few on the forum (myself included). NAF counterparts in other branches have recieved this for some time now. Air Force is apparently the only one to "reconsider" the DoD's directives on NAF employees pay. While this doesn't suprise me one bit, I hope they start treating their employees like they are expected to.

I've been in the system for 13 years next month. IF full packpay is agreed to, it will be a beautiful day. I've crunched numbers and came up with around the likes of $40,000. If AF has been using loopholes not to pay for so many years, I believe they will find one not to back pay as well.
I figured the Army and Air Force would be on the same page as each other, but I guess not.

Oh they will figure out some way to squirm they're way out of this one. I only can keep my fingers crossed. By the time they settle something I will be out of the system anyways.

Full back pay would be a wild dream, so don't buy that BMW just yet. At best they will allocate a fund for compensation and then everyone will get some percentage of what they are owed based on the total allocation.

I expect nothing.

I expect them to give us 100% of what they owe us... Along with interest.
I especially want the back-pay, since it could be about $50,000 :thumbup:
... And I also want a sincere appology for misinterpreting DOD Policy
I find it a little hard to understand how the below could be read that it didn't apply to a "local hire"...
From http://aoprals.state.gov/:
***Post Allowance***
Employees will receive post allowance if they meet the criteria in DSSR, section 040i. The amount of the entitlement will be in accordance with DSSR, section 226. The rules for married couples apply whether the spouse of the NAF employee is a NAF or APF civilian employee or a military member. When the spouse of the NAF employee is military, the NAF employee may not claim the spouse but may claim other dependent family members if they are not included in a cost-of-living allowance received by the military spouse.
***Department of State Standardized Regulations (DSSR)***
Section 040i
"Employee" means an individual employed in the civilian service of a government agency (including ambassadors, ministers, and members of the Foreign Service of the United States under the Department of State) who is:
(1) a citizen of the United States (except under Section 312);
(2) officially stationed in a foreign area, except as otherwise specifically provided in these regulations;
(3) receiving basic compensation (Section 040k); and
(4) eligible for allowances or differential under subchapter 030, including the provisions pertaining to local hires (Section 031.12) and temporary employees (Section 031.4), as determined by relevant agency authority. (Eff 10/02/05 TL:SR 656)

It is the "Lets do it untill someone finds out" device used all too often in the AF.
Not until being a supervisor did I learn about if a holiday falls on your day off, you are supposed to get an extra day off. I had 3 years worth of holidays that fell mostly on my days off, with no extra day. Needless to say, everyone knows about it now.
I have zero doubt that if the AF overpaid NAF employees by the same amount as post allowance, they would take every last penny back regardless of amount or timeframe. Local hires need to be on the same page, and just as ruthless in getting their due. Not just happy to be getting what they should have been getting. This could mean nearly 50 thousand to me as well.
I expect nothing ASAP, but yes, I expect it.

Another update. Apparently, COLA is here. With luck, Apr. 25th's paycheck will show it.

Still nothing more that "maybe", eh? I want it, I'm due it, but I'll only BELIEVE it, when it's in my grubby lil' fingerz.
Oh well, I'm so used to getting screwed, perhaps I should buy stock in condom manufacturing, or birth-control.
I hope this changes the way AAFES managers are allowed to live in General/Flag Officer's quarters...paid for (fair rental value), by YOUR contributions to AAFES.

I was supposed to get it...I've worked 40 hrs/wk for the last year and a half. I should have seen it on my last check, but they screwed me out of it. Our f*cking CASHIER got it, but I, who work an administrative job in the back office, who is directly under the director, got nothing. I effing hate the Air Force. :cursing:

AAFES is simply applying a portion of the "Three Great 'Truths' "
1. The check is in the mail!
2. I'm from the government...and I'm here to HELP you!
3. I WON'T (descriptor deleted) in your mouth!

Well, our last two paychecks did indeed have Post Allowance. It was even backdated from April 20th. Noone was more suprised than me.
