Which do you prefer and why? Harley style bikes or Crotch Rockets?

Those V-Rods are pretty sharp. Kinda a Hog/Crotch Rocket fusion.

Well, I like the style of the Harley, but not the sound. I used to want a Kawasaki Ninja as a kid, but couldn't imagine actually riding a motorcycle now. So, with that in mind, I'd have to go with the Harley for its classic style.

Hogs. I loved my Shadow 1100. Been on a few runs. Harley is the main attraction, but I was never razzed for my Honda. I guess the big V was good enough.
On a side note...

I've had crotch rockets before but have ridden both. I like the way that crotch rockets handle & of course, speed at the flick of a wrist; however, since I'm getting older :old: I'd have to start leaning towards something like a Gold Wing, that way momma can ride in comfort too. ;)

I like the looks of some of the crotch rockets, but I like the Hog's more. If I could come up with a surf rack for a 10' board and attach it to a Harley, i'd get one. Oh yeah, and i would have to convince my wife that i really need it.

No Gold Wings or Harleys for me......maybe a V-Rod if it was hopped up, but I doubt it. They remind me of a Lazy Boy recliner on wheels. Slow steering, and that "everybody's got one" problem too. Here's a bike I used to have......it's kind of the best of both worlds. A Buell is a sportbike that has a hopped up sportster motor & gobs of torque. Rated @ 101 HP & it loves to wheelie. I laid it down on the 10 freeway one Friday afternoon, but it wasn't too bad. I drove it home, just a little worse for wear.......and me with bloody hands, knees & elbows & shredded work pants.

I stopped into an In-N-Out Burger to grab a coke & just chill out on the way home.......it was freakin' hilarious to see people's expressions as they walked by with their food & drinks. They looked more in shock that me.

You need a choice for "both" ;)

Ideally, I'd like both a sport bike and a cruiser. Sometimes I'd feel like hitting the twisties, other times I'd like to just thump around in cool chopper. However, my chopper would have to handle decent too. I'm not into the ones with a huge rake and 6ft forks.

have owned several "crotch rockets" a suzuki moped..and one harley....

kombu kid..that blue bike was really cool...but am thinking that it does not have any shocks on the rear....which makes for a really uncomfortable ride..imho....looks cool as hell though......

first bike was a ninja 600...and rode the bike to get my drivers licence and even took the motorcycle safety class..before i got the thing..so ...give me credit ...i at least tried to be safe......

the crotch rockets were fast, with killer handeling, brakes and power. ...the downside was that i wrecked a lot, got injured a lot, and got many speeding tickets.....was under 20 years old at the time.....

so i got a harley .....the harley sounded good, had crappy handeling, crap shocks, crap power, but..looked cool as hell, vibrated alot..and needed a lot of polishing all the time but i am a lazy shit...and it rusted preety badly by the time i sold it..have to admit that the harley had good resale value though....and the sound of it. that killer v twin sound is a sound i will always love.....

now i just ride my bicycle.......and am just as happy.....:)

I said crotch rockets. I haven't rode a Harley yet. My dad has had a few but never wanted to try them out. I had a 02 Honda CBR F4i as my first bike. I loved it...red/white, Yoshimura race exhaust, fender eliminator, and power commander. Kind of like the one I posted. I like the GSX-R's and the Yamahas R1/6 but not a big fan of the Kawi's.

E. None of the above.

Here is my 1990 DR650 Suzuki Dualsport. Pavement, dirt, don't matter! It's getting a paint job soon, it was covered in teal/aqua 1990-vintage decals when I got it. It was in the low 20's (F) when this picture was taken, think it was December 30 or something.

I would buy a 50cc scooter before I got a Hardly, just don't like 'em. And 90+ % of the people who rant and rave about HD's have never ridden one, much less owned one. I grew up around bikes and bikers, it's not WHAT your ride, it's that you actually RIDE!

Sport bikes just don't fit my riding style, and they're notoriously difficult on muddy logging roads.

Don't get my wrong just commenting there is a lot of plastic on that bike that breaks to pieces on the first crash and is super expensive to replace...

I love all bikes types: from Honda Cubs (which has been voted more than once as the world's greatest bike, due to sheer numbers, all the different countries that use it, and the fact it has not changed in more than 60 years) scooters, Harleys, customs, dirt bikes, etc. etc. Each has a purpose and performs well in different situations.

I wouldn't recommend daily driving a $30,000 chromed out Harley here in Okinawa. Nor would I attempt to cross the US on a crotch rocket.

I think you should pick the best bike that meets your needs.

Bottom line I love all things motorcycle and one day hope to own 5 – 6 bikes.

1. 1990 Harley Fat Boy
2. BMW R1200 GS
3. 1960 Vespa
4. Custom Bobber
5. Ducati Monster 695
6. Suzuki Hayabusa GSX1300R
