All this talk of crimes by GIs over the years, reminded me of an incident from my days on Okinawa. I don't think it was big news at the time.

This occured in the fall of 1991. In fact, it happened in MY barracks room - on my bunk!! :scared: I'd just left Okinawa earlier that day for some leave in the states. Apparently, the perps ended coming back from a night out with my roommate (not mentioned) and the girl. They ended up in our room, which is where this all went down.

I knew Sean Kelley since basic training and we were pretty good friends for a couple years. However, we weren't very close when this happened. He changed over the years and begun hanging out with some shady folks and doing some questionable activities (obviously).

Oddly enough, I actually dated the girl for awhile, many months after the incident. Other than being naive and too trusting, I don't think she did anything wrong to create the bad situation she ended up in when this attack occured.

Oh geez, think I know one of those guys. I had no idea this happened. I was only here for the summer that year, but both those names sound familiar.

I honestly dont remember this one.

Do you remember what the other guy got? He was charged with more serious crimes it seems.

Sorry, I don't remember the details regarding the other guy's conviction. I didn't know the guy, so I guess the info wasn't that important to me at the time.

Thanks anyway, if he got 18 months for an assault conviction I was wondering what the other guy got.

Oh and how was the girl after all of this you said you dated her? I am kind of surprised that after getting raped by a bunch of Americans that she would go out with another one so soon afterwards.

Other than being naive and too trusting

You dont know how many times I have gotten that impression from a lot of people here.

She did seem a bit skittish & nervous when we spent time at the scene of the crime (my barracks room), but overall I think she adjusted fairly well. She was part a group of regulars at Neo Manhattan that consisted of both Okinawans and Americans, so she already knew who I was for some time beforehand. BTW, these two guys were not part of that group.

One interesting tid-bit: Word got around that we’d slept together just months afterwards and the defense lawyer was tempted to use that against her & even put me on the stand during the trial. However, I made it very clear that I knew a lot about the defendant that could damage his character, so they wisely left me out of it. The idea was total BS anyway. A yes to one guy doesn’t qualify a girl as a nympho slut begging to get double teamed.
