Been here for fourteen years, well before the concept of the Western-styled buffet hit the island. Have been to countless places throughout this island looking for the perfect lunchtime spot. I think that I have finally found it!! Please do not mistake my exuberance here for mere hyperbole. If you are in or near Naha, you will definitely want to visit this place for lunch.

It is called 4th Floor or Floor 4 or The 4th Floor or something like that. If you go straight down 58 into the heart of Naha, make a left turn at that street that takes you directly to Ryubo (aka Palette Kumoji) (the popular department store in the heart of the city). You will see Ryubo in the near-distance off to your right and in front of you the monorail will be flying over the street.

After you make that left off of 58, make an immediate left into the side street where you’ll see on your left a fairly massive outdoor parking lot. Pull in, get your ticket, park your car and walk across the street to the restaurant. Despite the name, the restaurant is actually on the 2nd floor of this building.

The lunchtime buffet is 1100 Yen. It includes, of course, all you can eat handmade pizzas, pastas as well as a fantastic salad area. Everything is super fresh and purported to be macro-biotic. Everything is made right in front of you. If you’re there by 11:30, just before noon, you’ll enjoy fresh-squeezed juices. Super yum. They only squeeze so much each day. The mix of juices is bad ass. Even the coffee, iced and hot, is fantastic as well as the desserts. The pizzas are amazing, hand-thrown and brick-oven baked. Wow. The pasta chefs are behind the bar area throwin’ together all kinds of different pastas. Even the ambience is bad ass. Aesthetically appealing to the eye. You will likely wanna just kick back after stuffing your face and take in the sights and sounds.

Check it out when you’re able.

Cheers, ib

Ian, I might ask for some more directions because I AM SO THERE!

Another fantastic lunch is Harborview Hotel, 1,500 yen, including unlimited steak for those who care. Kiddies free or nearly, plus you get 500 yen coupons for the next time!

Another good place to eat is right across from Foster, "Try Viking" yakiniku joint. You cook the meat at your table, etc...good place to take kids. Suggest going for lunch, open at 1130. You'll save like 900 yen over the dinner time prices and I think it's the same food.

I suppose I should have posted this link first. Just found it, though, on the net.

Check out the their website for details. The name of the place is Cafe 4th.

If you haven't tried La Fonte in Shuri (Italian cuisine), it's pretty good. 1400 yen weekdays gets you all-you-can-eat pasta, pizza, salad, bread, dessert, and coffee/tea/juices for lunch. Add 200 yen for weekends, but add wine to the drinks list as well.

My wife and I went to the Grand Mir (Tokyo Daichi) Hotel in Awase last week and I must say, they have a very good lunch buffet.

Standard price is 1,400 yen or 1,000 yen if you make a members card!

It starts at 1130 but I am not sure what time it finishes...

Tried to try Cafe 4th for a second time this weekend without success. First time they had a private party. This time they just weren't open. I can't see anything on their website about certain days being closed but I'll be calling next time.............

That's kinda strange. We usually go during the weekdays for lunch. I think weekends might be a bit more pricey. Not sure. I should check out their website. I haven't been there in about a month or so. Been thinkin' about their pizza lately.

I finally got to experience Cafe 4th and was satisfied. The website says ¥1,000. I guess maybe they haven't updated it but they charged ¥1,100. It was worth it though. Everything was so fresh - from the brick(?) oven pizza (didn't get a close look but they were cooking them in some bad-ass oven) to the fresh squeezed mixed fruit juice. I believe the pizza was true Napoli style, as their shirts read. The pastas and risotto were also good but I'd recommend sticking to the pizza, bread, and salad. I can't wait to go back.

If you like lots of vegetables, chicken and food that is not full of PORK like myself then check out a place near shintoshin called BANZAI(written in Kanji and english)Went there a few times and actually like it more than Daikon no hana:thumbup:
to get there just head south past camp kinser go OVER the bridge and make the first left turn at the traffic light, drive straight until you see a shipping company named sagawa on your left Banzai is across the street on the right (can't miss it it is on the corner with a bunch of flowers on the side)
2nd floor, first floor is a seafood restaurant usually open at night.
banzai is really good, lots of meatless food and vegetables, unlimited drinks(no alcohol) just 100% juice and vinegar drinks, also lots of fresh made sweets:thumbup:

What's the price on this place? Is it a buffet?

Like okisteve says. Get a wooden tray, and you walk around the large assortment of various styles of cuisine, and you fill up little dishes with whatever you want and load them up on your tray. Go back to load again and again as much as you like. Japanese, Chinese, Okinawan fusion, with a little SE Asia and Indian thrown in, a smattering of pizza and such. Desserts, coffee, tea, juice. Focus is on healthy food, but in those quantities does it really matter? Damn tasty...
