View Full Version : "I think my house is Haunted"

I know people might think: "this girl is crazy" but i have proof of thinking that my place is haunted...i live in the towers and when i first moved in everything was fine, but about 1 week in after moving in i put my girls to sleep and i was ready to fall asleep when the toilet seat slammed 2 times..i looked at my husband and he's like dont worry about it go to sleep. I was a little freaked..but didnt think of anything..a few days later i had some friends stay over and my friend woke up to make a bottle for her son and while she was making the bottle she ran to wake up her husband because the front closet door by the kitchen had opened half way and she got really scared and wanted him to see it. 2 days after the 2nd incident i was cleaning my bedroom when the faucet turned on i looked at my husband and i'm like ok this is a little too much he told me again who cares if it is a spirit its just playing so we paid no attention to it..2 days after that it was like 1 am and my daughter woke up so i made her a bottle and i went to her room, fed her and as i was leaving i felt something grabbing me onto my right leg..and that really freaked me out to the point that i couldnt go back to sleep...i woke up my husband and told him what happend so we prayed for our place. 1 week later i think it was a monday afternoon i was at home just put my girls to nap and i started picking up around the house and i went to clean my brand new table as i'm cleaning my table i feel like chills and as i look at the table an image of a man's private part had appeared on my table i swear i was so freaked out and upset because my table is new and theres a perfect image of a man's private part. I was wiping my table down with water..i was like i can't believe this i have had a few people witness the image and they can't believe it...its crazy for real...and it still on my table..so by now i'm like use to i guess this paranormal phenomen thats going around but 1 week later i was on the computer and my oldest daughter was playing disney dancerella and she layed the wand on our coffee table and went to sleep in her room. So like 10 min pass by i'm still on the computer when the wand goes off on it's own i look back and was like their truly is something weird here. Has anything like this happend to anyone?:dead::eek:

Yes. My house is creepy too. Toys going off when no one is touching them, shadows flitting past out of the corner of your eye, lots of noises that can't be explained, the dog is uneasy and doesn't like to be alone. I thought I was imagining it, but I talked to some other neighbors and they said that everyone knew my house was the haunted one. Nothing has touched me yet or left naughty pictures on my furniture though! That's probably more than I could ignore without getting someone in to bless the house and maybe fix the situation.
We all sleep very poorly here. The kids all wake up several times a night with nightmares and they talk/argue in their sleep just about every night. My husband and I both wake up with a start a few nights a week...it's always at the same time too.
I just try to ignore it and figure no one is pushing me down the stairs yet so it's not a deal breaker at this point...
Good luck! You'd be surprised how many people have similar stories once you start asking around. This place is full of weird energy that is very different from the States...

If you read the Okinawa ghost stories book, it says the towers on Kadena are built on some sacred ground or something to that effect and it talks a about a haunted apartment on the 3rd story, but doesnt say which building

Ok...let me now say that I do not believe in ghost stories, gouls, specters, or the like. I'm very "right brained" to a fault. Something happened though that made me question things.
My 4 year old daughter and I were playing on the bed one night, and we wound up laying down beside each other looking up towards the ceiling.
My daughter fixated on a spot on the ceiling...and I mean she focused on something...apparently that I could not see. I thought she saw a gecko or cockroach or something of the like. When I didn't see anything, I looked over at her as she started to smile. She giggled a bit and nodded...then said "Ok..bye bye grandpa!". That was it. I had a little sixth sense baby and my goosebumps were working overtime. Her Okinawan grandpa had died a few months earlier, and he regretted not being able to watch her grow up.
Makes you wonder! She actually saw something....

Vanessa As To Your Haunted Story...
I've Had Experience Back In Mainland,i Just Moved In To A Apartment, and I Didn't Have My Stuff With Me Yet, So I Decided To Sleep On The Blow Up Bed,then When I Finally Went To Sleep Few Hours Later,i Had A Nightmare And I Saw A Japanese Family Right Next To Me And The Little Boy Trying To Pull My Covers,i Woke Up Very Frightened.the Next Day When I Went To Work I Talked To My Girls, and They Told Me To Put Salt Right Outside You Door On Both Sides And Say A Little Prayer...after That I Never Had Nightmare Anymore.and Its Good To Leave Your Radion On While You're Sleep,it Shows That You Dont Want To Be Disturbed, and All These Stuff Works To Me.the Quieter Your Place The More They Feel Its Their Home.japanese Ghosts Are Everywhere In Japan Cuz There's Alot Of Suicide.so Atleast Leave Something On Like Radio Or Tv To Make A Little Noise.

My kids won't go upstairs by themselves. They've devised a buddy system...if one of them has to go up and bathe or do something, then another one will drop what they are doing to accompany them (not in the actual bathroom, but upstairs with them) so they aren't alone "with the ghosts".
My son plays his cd's at night, and I told him it wasn't a great habit to get into...you need to learn how to fall asleep in quiet. He told me he plays the music so the ghosts won't think he's alone in his room and bother him. That made me kind of sad for him...

esp we are relocating there in 3mths
In Japan, people like to throw salt in the air to ward off the evil spirits. From my share of moving into new place, I would usually "talk" to whoever out there, that we meant no harm to them. And do ask them to give us a peaceful stay in returns.

VAN, I need more info from ya. 1. do feel like there is some watching you?
2.do lights and electrical Items ficker
3. take your digital camera and snap a few photos when yo feel something is there
4DO you smell anything before the epsiodes
has there been any violent encounters.
OK the reason I ask you this because there two type of hauntings....intelligent and a type that is basically like a tape that will play over and over again with no idea that you even exist.
From what you say it sounds like you have an Intelligent haunting if any at all.
I want you to try to figure out why some these things occur such as toys going off on there own toilet seat dropping ect. First you try to debunk anything that has an explanation from a skeptics point of view.
I suggest evp work, try to find out is any thing there or not
then determine if it is hostile or non hostile.
If its non hostile your fine but if it hostile then we gotta take it to the next level.
If hostile I suggest you state that you dont want them there, and try to take your home, also Holy water and salt(if you have okinawan friends they can point you in the right direction)
Now here comes the scary part there are 2 types of spirits human and non human aka demonic, if you encounter a human spirit usually you can live in peace with it, a demonic spirit is dangerous and no spirit should be provoked if you are not ready for the ride.
LEt me know the answers to these and other experiences and I can give you the next step.
DONT BE SCARED, BE STRONG, and tell your kids the same:thumbup1:
You can ask a chaplin to bless your apt, but if your encounters get worse/violent you need to leave , remeber photos video tapes evp anything to reeinforce your case.

C-6 - I'm on base.
I had no idea my particular house had a reputation until I started asking around about other peoples houses. My neighbors would perk up and get a gleam in their eye...they all knew about my houses rep and I was clueless. Apparently, the children who lived here before us had the same buddy system going on.
My youngest daughter swears she woke up from one nightmare and saw a horrible face down the side of her bed. From her description, it looked like one of those Crypt Keeper Halloween masks.
We are in multiplex units, and other neighbors have told me about being awakened by the feeling of something jumping on their bed (feels like a cat or something) but there's no one there. Several times I've heard what sounds like neighbors dragging heavy chairs across the floor for five or ten minutes running...but the neighbors weren't home/said they hadn't heard or done anything.
I really don't want to discover that it's a mean spirit in the house...it's already creepy enough at night. You just always feel like there's someone next to you/around the corner.

C-6 --- apparently spending hours every day online is my job, so I'm technically doing both :) I'm a SAHM, but the house doesn't bother me during the day when I'm here alone. I guess I just don't like it when my kids are here, as they seem more vulnerable. No one has been hurt or even touched (no leg grabbing...that would freak me out!) so I'm fine with not stirring the pot if nothing is going to bother us. I might have the priest come bless our house at some point so the kids can relax (and the dog...he's a nervous wreck here) I feel like the taping or even the talking out loud about the creepy factor might encourage whatever might be here to become more interactive, and that is NOT what we want... :scared:

The jury's still out on how badly it's affecting us. I'm trying to look on the bright side...the kids are getting lots of "bonding time" in their efforts to never be alone upstairs. It seems like upstairs is the only place that is "creepy", although the toys turning themselves on has always happened downstairs (we just can't keep the stupid Wii turned off...just about every time I go into the living room, it is back on)
Thanks for your interest. We've lived in houses like this before (old houses with reputations/noises) and I've been aware of stuff like this my whole life. I suppose I'm one of those people who is open to ghosty elements. I've heard that the vast majority of people are completely unaware of how much goes on around them as far as spirit activity...there are some who say we're surrounded with spirits just about everywhere we go and we just don't see them.

Reportedly haunted sites can be found around almost any corner on and off Okinawa bases.
So many ghost stories abound that Marine Corps Community Services and 18th Services Squadron on Kadena Air Base both run special Halloween spooky sites tours that sell out weeks in advance.
Web sites and a book on the subject — Jayne A. Hitchcock’s “The Ghosts of Okinawa” — celebrate the local haunts.
A World War II soldier is said to roam Gate 3 on Camp Hansen in blood-splattered fatigues asking sentries to light his cigarette.
Marines refused to stand guard due to the haunting, and the gate was eventually closed, according to Hitchcock.
Camp Foster is said to be the home of a ghostly samurai warrior who eternally travels from Stillwell Drive uphill toward Futenma Housing.
Kadena Air Base also has its ghost stories.
A small house behind the Kadena United Services Organization, numbered 2283, is now used for storage because, it is said, no one willingly lives in it for long.
Some say the house remains haunted after a man murdered his family there. Others say the house rests on an ancient burial site, and the souls of the dead beneath are restless.
Kadena’s golf course might be the site where in 1945 a group of high-school girls pressed into service in the Japanese Imperial Army committed suicide, according to another yarn.
The spirits of the dead girls are said to still haunt the land.
Off-base, half-finished buildings are abandoned due to reports of ghostly visitors.
Construction of the Royal Hotel off Route 329, near the Nakagusuku Castle ruins, was begun some three decades ago — possibly on a sacred site.
Mysterious accidents and deaths drove workers to abandon construction.
Meanwhile, at Maeda Point, there is rumored to be a prophet-of-death ghost.
The elderly Okinawan apparition is said to appear at a tomb that can be seen only from the water, and within days of a sighting, a body is found on a nearby beach.
Stars and Stripes reporters Travis Tritten, Jimmy Norris, Vince Little and Cindy Fisher contributed to this story.

The chair scooting across the floor gave me chills, b/c above us right now it sounds like someone is dragging a chair across the floor, it does this ALL DAY LONG at night there is so much stomping that our lights shakes. We live in on Foster. Also my baby will star out and start smiling and reaching for something that I can't see, she'll also crawl to a spot in the hallways and sit and laugh at nothing. Also a few times when I've taken pictures of the kids around the house they were all smeary and pink like I was moving the camera and there was a pink veil over it. So weird.
I never believed in ghosts or anything until we moved here, but there has been some weird stuff.

I think my house is haunted as well. Sometimes when I go out on the weekends, and the rest of family is up in Tomishiro, strange things occur. I will go out and party and everything is fine before I leave. When I wake up in the morning however, the spooks have been busy. I wake up, and there are Wendy's food wrappers and such laying around. I'm not sure how lettuce was stuck to the ceiling. My wallet is empty, cause the spooks have stole my money I think. One of the poltergiests has missed the toilet and pee'd on the bathroom floor. Sometimes it looks like they have tried to mix chili, tabaso, and lima beans in a pot for some strange demonic feast. Them nasty spirits even drink up all my Captain Morgan & Coke. The ghouls even leave on all the lights. The stereo, T.V., and the blender are all left on. I think i need them Ghostbusters over here. Wierd but true.

I don't recommend contacting the ghosts or spirits yourself, unless you want them sticking around. I believe that children can see and speak to ghosts. If the children aren't screaming and crying randomly during these "sessions", leave it be. The ghost is harmless. Very often, if you believe in such things, a travelling ghost will pass through your house, particularly if you have a baby or an especially creative child. I reiterate that I believe in ghosts. I don't expect you to, if you don't. :)

One place I lived in back in the States was much worse! The person who lived there before me used to conduct seances (sp?) in the basement, so the house had issues from day one. The thermostat would go from one extreme to another without anyone touching it, the toilets would flush, footsteps in the attic, screeching noises from the basement, cold blasts of air out of the blue, doors opening on their own, glass cutting board exploding into a million pieces when no one was touching it...stuff like that. I was very happy to leave that house. This one is nuthin' compared to that!

Check out my EVP research on the Haunted Okinawa thread. I think it may interest a few of you...i wasnt a believer myself until i tried it. You should try it in your houses and see if you get responses....be warned though, alot of the things i've caught on my digital recorder still gives me nightmares....nothing scarier than hearing your name repeated or someone telling you to get out.
no thats ok i rather not do that..kind of interesting but i dont know ...i rather have someone experienced do it lol

WOW, I want to do this EVP thing. But my husband is working nights for the ORI and I'm ALL ALONE! I get scared very easy so I think I'll wait until he gets home. When he was on a TDY I thought I woke up and saw a little girl in a white dress walk across my room. But my dog also walked the same path. So She could of been walking with my dog. Or maybe I was just crazy :P Also, there are times I think I hear my husband come home from work. The other night I was sleeping and I thought he was home. Then I heard the door shut. I just thought he went back to get something he left at work. When he came home I asked him if he was home at 5:30 and he said no. Anyways, I'm getting scared now...I better stop reading this :P
BTW: I use to live in the Kadena towers on the 2nd floor. I never had anything crazy or scary go on there. My husband went to the USO house, him and his friend wanted to walk by it. I was driving and I told him I would not drive over there and I told him I didn't want him to go (cuz the house makes men kill there wives). He went anyways, and I got so mad. I drove around the block before going back to get him. Then he tried to scare me and I got scared...lol He is so cute thought, he says I'm such a scardy cat. But the funny thing is, I love to watch shows like the hunting. I just cant when I'm alone.

Speaking of creepy stuff...I'm glad this thread is active still. Two nights ago I was in bed reading, the kids were asleep, tv was off, house was quiet. It was about ten pm. I suddenly heard what sounded like frantic, rapid gnawing coming from the ceiling and outside wall of my bedroom. It sounded like a rat frantically chewing on a wooden beam. Then I remembered that there ARE no wooden beams in these houses and there isn't an attic either. The sound went on for a couple of minutes and then slowed down and became more distinct...it was the sound of a hand saw on wood. The initial sound was how it sounds when you're trying to get a bite on the wood, and then it became much more obvious what the sound was. It was really pretty loud and it went on for about ten minutes. It was the sound of someone sawing through wood.
I assumed/hoped it was the next door neighbor working on some do it yourself project, but I asked his wife and he's out of town and she didn't hear anything. I asked everyone else and no one was doing anything like that (most of the men aren't here) so there's no explanation for it. It was very obvious what it was, but it doesn't make any sense...there isn't any wood in these multiplex units and there wasn't any construction going on at ten at night anywhere around here.
Odd...maybe my ghost is Bob the Builder?

like i told BO, there's no need to be scared. All you have to do is leave something recording while you do the dishes, or laundry, or whatever. No need to even voice out loud that you are trying to contact them, and you can do it during the day if you feel more comfortable. Then send it to myself or crazysix and we'll analyze it if you dont want to listen to it.
or if you grow curageous try asking a few questions (what is your name, etc) and see if there's any response. There's always that slight chance that there's nothing there.

Kinser and yea its on my table...
I'm really curious as to what towers or even what room you live in on Kinser. My husband and I spent a year in tower 1088 on the 7th floor and moved out about 6 months ago. I have quite a few scary stories about things we experienced there. One of the scariest things I remember I already wrote about in the "Haunted Okinawa" thread. That was probably the freakiest but next to that was me waking up to see some sort of evil demonic lobster clawed thing standing next to the bed one night. I still tell myself I was still dreaming but it was just too real. It was huge and muscular and soooo freaky! Like many people I always figured there was ghosts or whatever but it took me moving here to experience anything. This place has so much energy here.

I was stationed here from 2003-2005 and we live in one of the multi-plex's on New Lester. One night, after my wife went to bed, I shut off ALL of the lights downstairs and went to bed. The next morning, when I got up, the light was on in the kitchen. I mentioned it to my wife thinking that maybe she had gotten up in the middle of the night to get our youngest a bottle or something. She never got up that night so I told her to ask our oldest if she had gotten up in the middle of the night to get a drink or something and she said that she hadn't. Then my wife asked why? Uh...oh......I told her why and she started telling me about some of the other stuff going on around the house. We had a lot of different things like that but we just chalked it up as a "good spirit" and invited him to dinner. :) He never showed up for dinner though. :(
Another time I was sitting downstairs working on the computer and we had one of those swinging doors between the kitchen and the living room. No kidding..........the door closed on it's own. :scared:

I had been wanting to start a post regarding ghost stories on Okinawa - good thing that I did a search first.
My bro and sis and myself have always had some kind of connection to "ghosts." We all saw them and were often blamed for weird sh*t that happened around the couple of houses that we grew up in. But, over time, we realized that it was us that attracted them, and the houses were probably just fine by themselves.
My wife is Uchinaanchu, and there are several Yuta in her family, and most of the rest of the women all serve as mediums from time to time. We see spirits here regularly - like weekly (I live in So Cal). We don't always see them, though. Sometimes we smell a particular perfume, or smell someone's smoky, coffee-like scent (grandpa?). Almost every night, somebody sits down on my side of the bed, and the bed moves very noticeable. I've never seen this one, but from what my wife describes, I think that it's my paternal great-grandmother.
In the Corps, both my brother and I (on different bases) not only saw the same ones, but our roommates also saw them while we were asleep. Many times, I would be asked in the morning: "Who was that woman standing by your rack last night?" I'd be like: "What woman? You should have woken me up, a-hole."
I've no problem with them. I sometimes see my maternal grandparents. My wife has spoken with them - and she has seen some of the same damn "friends" standing by my side of the bed while I am asleep. I don't particularly like it when I come home from work and see the asian chick in my bathroom, but I come back in a few and she's usually gone so that I can piss in peace. My wife sees her too. At least I have plenty of other whiz options.
Look, they really can't harm you, and most are around because they are concerned about you, have taken an interest in you, or want to live vicariously through you, and so on. Some aren't so friendly, and can make one think that they are doing harm, but imo, it's just an illusion - although illusions can lead one to inadvertently harm him/herself.
It's late, and I'm tired. I'll post a few stories later, some from Oki. If you need to get rid of them, though, here's the trick: Salt. Visit any old-school Uchinaanchu home, like my wife's 'Ba-Chan's house, and you'll find bowls of salt all over the place. Then again... her house is the "main" house, and family from Okinawa to Brazil come to pay their respects and pray at the shrine. I've seen ghosts there, too and I'm sure that there's no shortage of spirit action in the area where most of her family live.
Just salt your house in a clockwise fashion, hitting all the places where "chi" or even dust might accumulate. Salt the outside of your doorway, too. It helps to have the will, resolve, and the intention to be rid of them (for the time being, anyway), as well. Your problems will be solved. You might also burn some citrus peels, as citrus really helps to move chi/energy - in the body or outside of it.
I've carried a small container of salt in my pocket since I was 18 y/o. Back then it was for the unwanted spirits. These days I have plenty of "helpful observers" around, and no "unwanted" spirits, but I carry the salt because I treat patients all day long and I don't want to end up sick at the end of the day from soaking up any of their negative sh*t - energetic or physiological.
Alright, enough babble, for now.

It's them damn aliens man...full of mischief

Ok...I'm going to re-revive this dead (no pun intended) topic. I just moved on-base into a multi-plex, and my 13-month-old daughter has started doing some funny things. Most notably, she has taken to crawling around in circles in the living room doorway looking down the hallway to the front door. Every time she turns around to face the hallway, she looks up, smiles, and starts belly laughing like she's playing peek-a-boo with someone. She'll also sit beside the doorjamb, look around the corner down the hallway, and laugh too. She'll do this while I'm sitting a few feet away from her, and she'll completely ignore me. She does the same routine (minus the crawling) when she's sitting in her high chair in the kitchen facing the front door area - she looks over my shoulder as I feed her, stares at something, and then busts out laughing. Then she looks at me, smiles, and then looks over my shoulder again and starts laughing. The logical part of me says this is just random toddler behavior, but I just find it odd that she's done it several times since we moved in a few days ago. Has anyone else experienced this with their kids? At least it's making her laugh...She's also taken to crawling up behind me while I'm on the computer, pulling up to hold onto the back of my chair, or when I'm unpacking boxes, and grabbing my back while going "raaarh!" That makes me laugh...she's never done that before but it's pretty hilarious having a 13-month-old trying to scare you.

I'm not a ghost believer....(more like I don't want to believe--gotta see it to believe it kind of thing, but I hope I never see anything...if that makes sense...)
But anyway one time I was at a friend's house with another friend of mine. We were playing with her daughter in her bedroom (she had recently turned two). She was having a great time showing us all of her toys and hats and all that girly stuff...
And suddenly she just kind of stopped...and stared at the corner of the ceiling. We would like, poke her, and she'd glance at one of us and just stare back at the corner.
None of the three adults in the room saw anything there.
Needless to say, we picked her up and took her into the living room to play.

If you believe your house is haunted and do not want the spirit there ask it to leave. if it doesn't command it to leave. you would be surprised at how well it works.
