Since we have been on lockdown are you out spending more money on base than normal or not?

For me, I have saved 60,000 yen!! I had to cancel all my appointments off base and all my shopping so next month if off I will have tons more money to spend!!

i spent about the same as i normally would on base at the local DECA joint, because we gotta eat! Everything is crowded and people are generally in a grumpy mood, so I tried to stay out of the BX/PX.

So, I probably saved about 50,000 Yen due to i need curtain for my new home and a few other odds and ends.

And too all who started to frequent the gym more on Kadena, open arms to no hot water in the men's locker room, lol.

Well we spent more than usual on base, although I can't say it was due to the lockdown. We were looking at cameras and originally one around $200. Well of course we walked out of the exchange with a $400 one, but it's pretty cool and we needed a new one anyways.

What your saying is that 60,000Y = 600.00$ and after 10 months you'll have $ 6,000. saved. Sweetheart what kind money are you maqking that after expenses you still got $600.00 to blow? Will you marry me?

I've spent more money than I normally would because I had to get items and could only get them on base. I was planning on buying a few things off post this past weekend that were on sale for a great price. Better quality items too.
Would be nice to get reimbursed for the difference.

I spend an average about 240,000 yen a month!! And NO I don't live off base so I have no rent to pay for!!

Oh and I do have an online store that brings in the extra $$$$ :w00t:

The only thing I buy on base is gas which this month was 1 time vs 3 times - not on lockdown!

Other than that I go commissary once a month and spend about $100.00 for my daughter's diet: 18 - 1/2gal of soy milk and 14 boxes of instant carnation mix.

Another thing that the almighty doesn't seem to know about is that a lot of people off base can only buy certain types of trash bags with the local town symbol on them. IE the trash bags you can only get at San-A etc. Can't get those kind of trash bags on post. Guess some people may have to resort to illegally dumping their garbage on post:w00t:

I don't believe what you telling me! Be truthful- gas ,once a month?
$100.00 a month on girls diet? And your living RENT FREE? So this on-line store is the goose that laid the golden egg?

For this month I only got gas once, I still have 1/4 tank since Feb 20. I usually get gas about 3 times or more.

I do all my grocery shopping off base. The last case lot sale I bought 10 of each item like paper towels, toliet paper, laundry soap etc.

Online store brings in $$$$ - no complaints!! check your PM for link!

My daughter is on a special diet, she has a sensory eating disorder. Basically she doesn't eat. The only things she will eat is certain places off base and certain foods off base, but she will only eat it if she goes there and helps pick out. For the past 6mo I have worked so hard in getting and finding foods she will eat, she has gained almost 2lbs. Since lockdown, she is back to where she started 6mo ago, refusing to eat. The past 2 days she tells me her tummy hurts, she constantly screams and cries that she wants this and that, but she doesn't understand why we can't go there. For her food off base I spend about 40,000 yen or more per month.

I've spent about the same. I'm actually broke right now! I didn't have my GTC once I went to thailand and had to pay for my hotel out of pocket. So now I'm still waiting to get paid for that, still hasn't happened.

Once it comes to gas, I can spend very little. If all I do is go to work and out to eat in the local area, I only fill up once a week, which is about 26 bucks. But if I'm driving everywhere with my wife, or sightseeing, then it's twice a week.

I think people would just spend more money at the base restaurants and the PX, since I noticed a big difference at the base establishments.

I think she should post that link to her store somewhere, think of the new customers you may be getting. :)

I have it from a good source that sales in at least one on-base concession went up the weeks during the lockdown. Based on that and other vendors' comments, one might conclude that all base food and retail places did better than usual due to the lockdown. We mostly stayed home and cooked... I gained five pounds from it.

No point in spending money when there's nothing to buy. Both weekends, what products changed or were added to the BX?

Are you saying that you acutually bought everything there is to sale from the PX and the concession stands? There is always something to buy! lol. I know I was still buying from them. I don't rely too much on off-base stores for some items.
