Based on questions and requests for exceptions already received, here
are answers to FAQs:

If you attend a school or a dependent attends a school off base, don't be late.
If you attend a church off base, don't be late.
If a dependent works off base, don't be late.
If you have bills to pay at a business off base, go pay them.
If you live off base and have to walk your dog/cat, etc, do it.
If you have a med, dental, legal, other appt off base, attend it.
If you or dependents have any type of lessons (music, martial arts, etc.), attend.
If you are going to Okuma, keep the reservation and go.
If you want to go from one installation to another for appt, BX, commissary, theater, club, the Spot, etc., go.
If you are participating in the Oki Marathon, win it!
If you are involved in a planned community relations event, attend it.
If you are going off the island for TDY, leave, etc., don't miss the flight.
If you have a scheduled whale watching tour through SVS, go.
If you are new to island and/or moving off base and house hunting, continue.
If you are purchasing or having a car maintained off base, complete the
transaction.

Some things not to do:
Go to any bar, restaurant or leisure activity off base.
Go shopping off base.
Allow your kids to go to the Dragon Palace, Seawall Family Mart, etc.
Plan/attend parties at friend's off base residences...plan them at an on base residence.
Go on sight seeing trips or to zoo, aquarium, parks, etc.

AAFES has extended hours at most locations (BX, Theaters, food courts, etc.) for Friday and Saturday. 18 SVS is making plans to handle a larger crowd at all facilities.

Take this opportunity to renew your appreciation for the privilege to live on this island and to explore things to do on all the
installations.

Thats an email I just got, so I thought I would pass it on....

We actually had one of our female NCO's ask if it was alright for her to still keep her nail appointment at COCO's. Then got pissed when they wouldnt let her go.

I'd like to believe all of this, but I'm getting different stories from a bunch of different people.

DocP was stopped at the gate this morning and asked if he was aware of the "period of reflection" and that he couldn't PT off base or walk his dog outside the gates. He verified that it is indeed ok to walk his dog since he lives off base, but to use common sense.

Why should us Americans be on lock down, what about when a Japanese person does something to an American, do we lock down all of America? Rape, drugs, violence is everywhere, it just doesnt happen in Japan. If this Marine was in Korea or Germany I believe he would of done the same thing, he is just a perv. He should be on the MSNBC Investigates where they catch the child pervs because thats what he is in my book. Japanese people have to much trust in everyone, maybe they should start raising thier kids different and tell them not to trust anyone at any time!!

The thing is, we are guests here in Japan. So anything we do will be blown way out of proportion. It will alwasy be like that, as it should be.

Raise their kids different? Why is that? Becuase you believe they're being raised incorrectly? Why is the Japanese way so wrong? What makes your way of raising kids the correct way to raise kids? Statements like this piss me off. It's in the same boat as those certain individuals who complain about a cashier who doesn't speak english OFF BASE.

Why should another country change their culture or way of life just becuase you believe it to be "wrong"?

Oh I am reflecting. :-|

My hubby is a Marine (which I think most might already know) and is in Korea right now. I was just thinking of what a "bad" boy he is (you know because he is a Marine) and how I will have to punish him when he gets back!

If you are reading this honey, prepare to be "locked down" when you get home. \:-):72:

I am not sure if fur-lined handcuffs count as being locked down or not...
