Why do people ICE comment AFN when they have a problem with there offbase decoder/sat setup?

Through experience, AFN station here is only responsible for there equipment thats fed into there building then fed to Mediatti (base cable). They do not fix your broken decoders, reallign/tune in your dish or change your settings. If you have a bad piece of equipment, go through Furnishing Management/Housing Office if you got it from them, and AAFES if you got it from them. If you can't allign your dish, call one of those companies that do it.

You can also call back to the states. The engineers back there are very helpful...they also answer your questions via email.

Yeah, That shite would always go straight to my phone at work. I got at least 5 calls about satellite dishes a day. Thanks for saying something about that,

Samy

Alright, slickmetal, you just blew your cover. Either you're a DJ or someone working at AFN, because noone else would have that kind of inside info about the nuances of AFN operations.

I can't tell if you're weatherby, but I'm willing to bet you are him. It's just like that rimjob expert to sneakily monitor the forum under the guise of an anonymous user name!

Don't punk out weatherby! We demand the truth!!!

Actually it's common sense type stuff that is probably not that common for most people. When they're pissed off they don't want to take the time and find out where to go to solve their problems. They just call the operator and ask for AFN.

I don't work at AFN and I knew all that.

Yea, but the author's perspective on the issue highly suggests inside knowledge, as well as a degree of empathy for AFN that would be most unusual for an outsider.

Sky perfect is always an option as well.:D Especially now that I figured out how to get UFC on it.:) That and they have NFL so all my American based programming is pretty much covered. And the commercials are way better too.:D

Isn't this (http://a2btv.com/) an option as well? I remember seeing somebody discussing this on the forum and found it to be pretty interesting. I'm considering ditching my SkyPerfect for it. A little pricey, but hey, better than having 100 Japanese channels and 6 English channels.

You can aslo get skypa over your hikari(fiber) Which you should be able to get when you move DK if you don't have it already.:D That A2btv looks pretty nice but if it doesn't deliver on all the Japanese stuff that my wife likes, like Sumo, it aint gonna fly.:D

My wife can get her own TV! She doesn't use it anyway! She's a mixi freak! :D

I'm primarily interested in getting more English television out here. I'm really getting sick of SkyPa translating English movies into Japanese and then removing the English language completely... Come on now... That's just MEAN!

I can't even watch X-Files in English anymore! :cursing:

Ya I think I mentioned that link. If we ever get stationed here again I think thats my best bet. It is a little pricey but for that many channels would be great especially since we have no Japanese speakers in our house to watch all those JP channels.

dk What is a mixi freak?

I've considered getting the slingbox and setting it up at my sister's home. Hell, if needed i could pay for an extra cable connection.

Mixi is an online community. Kind of like Japan's myspace. My wife is on her account ALL THE TIME when she's at home.

I used to do mixi too...but too many lonely housewives there for me! (not Chobi though!)

I'm going to interpret slickmetal's silence as his acknowledgment of culpability.
