Well, I'm going to move. I already live off-base, but moving into a bigger place. I know Budget (the ones who do the Foster Furny Store deliveries) does moves as well.
Anyone else ever move from off-base (first floor, house) to another off-base place? Who is the best, who is the most reasonably priced.
I know some will do free estimates, but I only have the base appliances (Washer, Stove, Fridge) and some of the base furniture (desk, 2x dressers) and a queen bed that can be taken apart nicely and another desk. I will be going to a 3rd floorish apartment (floorish due to the 1st level is ground level)
So any one recommend anybody - or maybe if you done this before how much it cost?
Thanks.

Couple of guys advertise in JU, or used to. I used them and they were good. I don't remember the names, something like Ed and Fred, or Manny and Moe, or Dave and Ken???? They have one truck that might be big enough for your stuff in one load, but more likely 2. I'll guess $250 but I really don't know.

I used to work for a large, well known moving company here, and I think you would be better off going with some "do it yourself" types if you can find them. The rates just for a couple guys and a truck to move the heavy stuff will be tabulated by weight, and run you quite a bit. I'm guessing (guessing mind you) that your stuff could run as high as $600-$800 if you go by a larger moving company. They usually do major moves, and military contracts (like barracks) and such. Smaller things like your place, they will try to make the most cash as they can.

Rent a truck for $100 and do it yourself!

That's a reasonable option if you have a few good friends to help, otherwise letting Manny, Moe and Jack do the heavy work will seem like a real bargain.

I only suggested it because they obviously don't have much stuff. Looks like a one day move. Pay me $750 and I'll do it for you!

yes, but do they pack your things up for you? Otherwise I have to go out and search for boxes, and possible more to cover wood furniture from getting marred and scratched. Also, what about damage insurance...would hate for Joe Schmoe to drop something going up a couple flights and not be able to do a claim for it.
I called Ken @ A-One Delivery and it seemed really reasonable. Very easy for them if they take the 5 pieces back to the base as well.
So.....where can i get boxes (besides Commissary and BX)

Well there is always someone moving on base for one reason or another. I have seen people place ads asking for their boxes. Might be worth a try.

I used budget movers, and they were reasonable. $150 per 1000lbs and I moved from the 3rd floor of one apartment to the 5th floor of another apartment.

Yes...they supply all the materials, and pack everything you need to move.

did they provide boxes and/or pack you up?? How many workers did they use? Also, I need to make a stop to FMO to drop off many things...will take alot of burden off the movers not to bring the FMO stuff up the stairs!
Sorry for all the questions, but I will be more educated when others do the same in the future.

Why don't you just call a few of these places and tell them what you need. I'm sure you will get more accurate answers than what we can provide here.

Yeah they gave us boxes on the day they came out to give us a quote. I don't know if they'll pack you up because my wife and I did it ourselves. We didn't have a whole lot of stuff so it wasn't bad.
As far as how many workers I think I remember 5 or 6. Either way they were pretty damn fast and worth every penny in my opinion.

Thanks. I'm giving them a holler today as an option.
