Anytime I do watch new movies, it's off-base. I'm just wondering--for those of you who do watch movies out in town--are there any good movies coming out?

I know 300 is coming. And this is the first movie I've actually been excited to see in a long time. I'll positively be seeing that this month. About freakin time.

Spiderman 3 and Pirates of the Carribean 3 I really couldn't give a care about. I always thought those were cheesy.

I'm just wondering if there's actually anything of quality coming out. Something where you don't just walk out of the theater merely entertained.

I know. Kinda vague. I guess I'm talking more the kind of quality you find in movies like Fight Club, Matrix (1), Lord of the Rings trilogy (although some of the actors were just cheesy), etc. The kind of movie where you leave thinking "wow, good/cool movie".

300's the only movie I'm expecting this from. Are there any others?

I want to see 300 merely for the visual effects. Looks awesome in that regard. However, I've read some negative reviews about its story in general. But, critics are often wrong.

I personally wait until they are on DVD and watch them for Y200!

I've gotton dozens of positive reviews of the movie from friends and acquaintances.

And one negative review from some religious e-zine forwarded to me from a relative. The big gripes were bare-breasted men (...) and violence (it's a war movie, duh).

One.

So, I'll trust my friends. lol. If I want a perfectly accurate story, I'll do some historical research. Close enough is good enough for me.

This is what I do with most movies. But some movies just need to be seen in theaters to get the full effect in my opinion.

The full effect? You mean crying babies, unruly kids, cell phones, loud talkers??? I have a great TV and surround sound set up almost perfectly. Can't get much better than watching it in my living room! But...to each his own!

Heh, I said off base. They're strict about babies and cellphones out in town. Don't know about the base theaters.
