I'm cutting the cord! What is your preference on the type of mouse you use for your pc.
There are a lot of options, laser, rechargeable, etc...
Please chime in!

I gave up on my cordless mouse. Maybe it was an early model, but it went through batteries like crazy and just was not worth the hassle. I'm back to a nice ergonomic wired one now. Maybe a cordless that can be recharged conveniently would be OK though.

I currently, at home, use the G7. It's a god send IMO. It comes with 2 rechargable batteries that plug in USB along with the receiver all in one. It has multiple setting for sensitivity from you could throw the mouse across the room and it would move an inch to if you bump the desk you can't find your cursor and everything in between. Love it! Oh, it's laser.

wireless laser mouse, normal size. I have a normal size wirless laser mouse, but I had to get a different one. I don't like not having a keypad on my labtop. So I bought a keypad to plug into the USB on the right side of my labtop. So, there isn't much space on that side of the desk, so I went to San-A and bought a mini wireless laser mouse along with the keypad to save space. The wireless transmitter is smaller then my big microsoft wireless mouse, and it plugs right into the USB slot on the keypad.
Best part is, the mouse was on sale for 1,800 yen! I think I paid almost 50 bucks for my microsoft one:scared:
I'm using a wireless laser Logitech mouse at work. Rechargeable. I was using some Microsoft wireless mouse at home (battery) but for some reason it stopped working (receiver stopped receiving the signal even though the batteries weren't empty) so I threw it in the drawer and picked up a cheap non-wireless laser mouse.

I have ball mice at work...curse you ball mouse!!!
You know how hard it is to play games in the arcade with a ball mouse!
I'm not talking about the roller ones with the big ball on top of the mouse, I'm talking old school! :(
Ball mice are fun though. I always liked opening up the bottom and scraping out all that nasty gunk every month or two or three. Very therapeutic! :D

I will have to agree with you on that one dk. It was like after you cleaned it worked so much better, felt like it was brand new or something.

ours does that to so we just use rechargeable batteries or take them out when you are done using the mouse. the cord really annoys me

I know, I know!!! It's like clipping your toenails!
I've sometimes had to borrow an office or computer while traveling where the old mouse was so full of gunk that it felt like an off-roading adventure. Sometimes if I had time I'd clean it for the lucky owner and feel like The Green Hornet.

Oh yea! I love cleaning it. It makes the work day feel...well...like you have accomplished something. :p
I'm gonna do it right now, actually :D

I like the little brown ones with brown eyes. The albino ones creep me out. ;)
Unless of course you're talking about computer mouse... then I prefer trackball wireless type. I don't know if it exists, but I prefer it.

Trackball all the way. My kids and wife are stuck on them too.
4 trackballs in use at home, and 3 at on my different PC's at. I wouldn't go back to a mouse.

Trackball? They still make those?
All kidding aside, yeah a trackball is a good thing. I use the Logitech G5 myself. It's chorded, comes with a set of weights, so you can customize the weight of the mouse to fit your needs.
As far as your needs go DoctorP, you had mentioned doing some work with video projects, you might also look into a good Graphics tablet. Wacom units are the best IMHO, but DougP seems to be a pretty good artist and might be able to give you some more solid advice.
The G-9 has gotten some very good reviews as well. On the other hand, when it comes down to the mouse, if the pointer works, it's good enough.

I'm looking at probably just an optical mouse. Seems like too many people have had issues with the wireless ones.

Yep its great..its what I have as well.
Be forwarned, the batteries don't last that long, kinda why they gave you 2 to keep swapping them out. Especially if your on your PC for a while or up playing a game all night long.
The G9 is now at the Kadena BX, which is an upgrade to the G5 Laser Corded. It has even more DPI (up to 3200), changable hand plates, you can even customize twhat color LEDs you want on it. I think it even interacrs with your G15 keyboard to run macros with the mouse buttons. Has more weighting options than the G5, that I wish the G7 had :( I really like it and want to get it, but it has a cord :(

I saw the G7....looks cool, but everyone has said the batteries don't last long. Thanks for the replies!
