Please tell me who you like, and why. If you have a favorite scene, why not post a Youtube link where available...

I really like Kevin Klein's work. From comedy (A Fish Called Wanda, for example) to drama (Life As A House), he can do it all.

I'm going to have to go with Edward Norton. I can't think of any scene off the top of my head, but American History X was probably the hardest hitting movie he was in that I appreciated the most. The rest, I just liked.

Sean Penn is great too.

Yeah, Edward Norton is one of the top actors these days...Fight Club, and 25th Hour...

Johnny Depp has really won me over in past years. Not just for the Pirates movies, but also for Secret Window and a few others.

I am really diggin' Shia Lebeouf. He is booming pretty big here lately with Transformers and Disturbia. He is a great actor.

I've been a Depp fan since Edward Scissor Hands. Thought he was brilliant in that. Secret Window I would have to say, other than Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, is my fav. The Pirate movies were ok...but I think he had better ones. I'm still waiting to see the new one, "something Sweeny" Looks good!!

I've also been a Leo Di fan since "Catch Me If You Can". I know a lot of people can stand the guy since "Titanic", but we all have to start somewhere, lol.

You have to admit though DiCaprio is good. "Catch me if you Can" and "Aviator" were both good flicks!

I agree with you on this one DoctorP, over the years Johnny has shown allot of versatility in his movies:star::star:

Hmm... In addition to those mentioned previously and still alive: Denzel Washington, Tom Hanks, Morgan Freeman, Jack Nicholson, Will Smith, John Travolta, John Leguizamo, William H. Macy, Christian Bale, Al Pacino, Liam Neeson, Harrison Ford, Ian McKellan, Sauel L. Jackson, Anthony Hopkins, Robert De Niro, Michael Caine, Steve Martin, Martin Short, Dan Akroyd, Bill Murray and Frank Oz. I tend toward the older men based on their consistency and my age.

To add to the Johnny Depp thing, he's fantastic; kind of a gothy dream, if they had such things. heh. His new movie is Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street (http://www.sweeneytoddmovie.com/). It looks awesome; and who doesn't enjoy a musical horror movie during the holidays?

Tom Hanks was great in "Terminal"
How can you like Dan Akroyd but not Bill Murray?
Also, Socal, did you just copy and past from the globes nominee list? lol

Christian Bale has really come into his own. I thought The Machinist was a very solid performance, and the Vietnam POW flick Rescue Dawn was an outstanding, character driven performance.

Dan Akroyd has done several movies outside of the comedies he used to do. Bill Murray has not...or at least I have not seen them. Lost in Translation was mediocre in my view. He is a good comedic actor though.

Kevin Kline....yeah, although I haven't seen a lot of his movies. Kevin Spacey...yeah. But I don't know why, I seem to like Steve Buscemi a lot. I just loved Fargo.....and especially the scene where Buscemi comes back to the cabin holding his face saying "I got shot in the face!!!" and "are we square?" while he's flashing the gun in his waistband. Just classic!

Me and my kids like to throw out movie quotes around the house.....when certain situations pop up.

Sorry for going back to my fave again and again, but Steve Buscemi was a main character on one whole season of The Sopranos (I think it was Season 3 or 4) and also directed one episode of Season 6. He's great!

I also like American History X and U-Turn. Both were excellent.

I really think Sean Penn is a powerful actor.

I really liked the work of Paul Giamatti, until he took the villian's role in Shoot 'em Up. What a crap flick that was.

Sir Ben Kingsley has got to be one of the best out there now too. Amazingly versatile. Sexy Beast had to be one of his all-time great films.

OK - just one more post about Sopranos: Sir Ben Kingsley appeared in one episode of Season 6, playing himself. Lauren Bacall also had a smaller cameo in the same episode. Amazing stuff.

Russell Crowe is a pretty good actor. I'm not convinced by his attempts at an American accent, but I do like his acting. Great in all sorts of roles. Virtuosity, The Insider, Gladiator, A Beautiful Mind, and 3:10 to Yuma.

Tom Cruise & Brad Pitt, despite being pretty boys, and into some debatably weird stuff in their personal lives, are very good actors.

I'm not sure about Tom Cruise - I think he gets a lot of credit for good acting because people are looking at his pretty facial expressions while he's talking. I've enjoyed his movies but I could swing either way :crying: on his acting ability.

I agree with those that mentioned Ed Norton and Kevin Spacey as excellent actors. I must disagree, however, with the folks that labeled Depp as a great actor. All of his characters in every movie are outlandish freak show sort of characters. To me, it doesn't take much depth and versatility to be over the top all the time. I don't dislike his movies, but I wouldn't label him a great actor.

I think a great actor is John Cusack. I really like most of the characters he has played.

Orson Wells.

Citizen Kane, is one of my all time favorites.

He also did well in Catch-22.

And one of the last great actors to appear on "The Muppett Show".

I used to admire Elmo's talent a lot, but it seems he is the original Christian Bale...
