Court Won't Accept Chimp As Person (http://www.foxnews.com/wires/2008Jan15/0,4670,ChimpChallenge,00.html)

VIENNA, Austria — Austria's Supreme Court has dashed hopes by animal rights activists to have a chimpanzee declared a person, a statement suggested Tuesday.

...

The court's decision follows in the footsteps of a similar ruling last fall. In September, a provincial judge in the city of Wiener Neustadt dismissed the case, ruling the Association Against Animal Factories has no legal standing to argue on the chimp's behalf.

It's probably better that way. If the chimp had been declared a person, the only logical next step would be to expect him to fullfil those responsibilities that a person his age typically has such as finding a job, paying his bills, and most importantly...PAYING TAXES!!!

What in the world has it come to where common sense is no longer prevalent in knowing the difference between humanlife and animal life. Oooppps I forgot we are talking about animal rights activists, common sense here seems to go out the door.

What idiots in my opinion.

I would suggest the ARists to go live with the chimp in his natural habitat and environment. Yeah right.

Charleton Heston is writing in agony, gripping the NRA-engraved rifle in his cold, dead fingers...

"GET YOUR FILTHY PAWS OFF ME, YOU DAMN DIRTY APE!"

ROTFL! Reminds me of a story a supervisor of mine once told me. He had just got home from work, and his 11 or 12 year old son ran up and asked if he had ever played "spank the monkey". Being the calm, cool, collected guy he is, he made sure to verify what exactly his son meant by "spank the monkey", and it turned out to be a game on some internet arcade website. But needless to say, it was an uncomfortable situation for a moment for him! :D

The ARists have other ways of getting their point across
