Any tabletop RPers out there? If so how long have you been playing, and what games do you play?
I'm personally a fan of BattleTech and Shadowrun.
That's right, I'm an uber nerd.

Yes. I play White Wolf (http://www.white-wolf.com/worldofdarkness/) World of Darkness rpg. I typically stick to Vampire Requiem, but not adverse to the other WoD games and Adventure. I've played WW rpg since 2000. I've played Shadowrun, Deadlands and Seven Seas a couple times, but never got into them. Technically, I've been a gamer for approximately fifteen years.

This brings back memories! I used to play Warhammer 40K with my buddy all the time. I had a fairly decent ultramarine army, but I stopped playing. After I stopped playing my guys just sat out on the shelf. But once I left home my mom threw them all into a bucket, so most of them are broke, if not thrown out.

Does anyone do tabletop RP around here? I used to back in the states (before I joined the Corps) but haven't had the chance since. I miss it so bad... :-)

Is that anything like Pong?

lol... pong? what's that? isn't that, like, the original video game? Haha... (I'm playing, of course) Want something fun/a little abstract try plasma pong. http://www.plasmapong.com
(oh crap, I didn't realize the link was dead... well, if you can find it anywhere else, it's a pretty entertaining game... looks like you can get it from this site: http://www.fun-motion.com/physics-games/plasma-pong/ enjoy!)

Oh, btw, tabletop roleplaying games are not quite like pong. Have you ever heard of dungeons and dragons? It's like that. It's basically a fantasy game where you create a character based on certain rules and criteria. You get to select their race, name, what abilities they have, and sometimes you get to decide on a history for your character. The games are typically set in a fantasy world (a la Tolkien) but sometimes take place in a post-apocalyptic future, or outer space, sometimes on other planets, sometimes on earth, and sometimes in today's modern, lovable world.
(post-apocalyptic future... is that redundant?)

I was an AD&D player back in the day....

What do you play iid? Didn't see where you actually said.
I played AD&D once... it was a lot of math. I had a healer named Poppy. You really wanted her to just die, but she's a good healer. heh.

Well, honestly, I only played AD&D (run by a friend, so some of the rules were a little loose... I was Kender...) and another system created by a good friend. (It was a very good system, actually. He and a few of his buddies had put like 2 or 3 years into it. And he revised some of the rules as things came up, etc etc etc... but it was very player driven...) And I've dunked (very slightly) into assorted other systems. GURPS, D20 once, and I can't think of any others. I just miss the grand adventures you could have on weekends and lazy afternoons...

I used to play Warhammer 40K with my friends. But I haven't played since I was about 12 or 13 years old. I still love all things Warhammer 40k themed.
Ultramarines FTW:thumbup:

P, ever read any of the novels that came out about 40K? I liked the ones about the Space Marines. I only read a couple though, as they're hard to find.

I still play RPGs every once in a while. I ran a Shadowrun game for a few friends a couple months back. Our games now tend to be based around a high roleplaying aspect, and not so much combat anymore. When I was a kid we'd have 4 or 5 different combat instances per sitting, now we've only got 1, or even none at all. Anyone else still play?

Before the baby, I played with a group on kadena. Haven't had the time since the baby was born. The group only plays White Wolf (http://www.white-wolf.com/worldofdarkness/) rpg though.
I used to play online as well, but that game ended when they stopped publishing that game line. I started playing in the new online game, but my time is limited these days. I tend more toward the social-political characters with minimum combat skills.

I am looking for a D&D 3/3.5 group to play with. I had a bit of experience with that system back in the states but have had a chance/ found anyone to play with out here.

Haven't played Shadowrun, but used to be an avid gamer 20-30 years ago. I agree about the high roleplaying aspect, a lot more variety in that kind game. Mostly into "indie" RPGs lately, but like old-fashioned, face-to-face tabletop games of any kind.

I still like Warhammer 40K and D&D...I just don't play that much anymore.

Is 3-Man considered a RPG? I mean if you have the 3-man that wears the 3-man hat. And when you roll you can make people drink if you get a good roll. And if you are 3-man, you have to roll a natural 3 to give the hat to someone else. I like to play that game.

Is 3-Man considered a RPG?
Found this (they actually have a site for drinking games! Only it's kind of lopsided... and crashes frequently):
This version of 3 Man Involves:
2 Dice, as many players, the more the better.
3 Man Goal:
get horrible wasted.
3 Man Rules:
1. Each player rolls the dice until a 3 is rolled on one or more of the dice (not including a sum of 3 ie: 1+2). The first player to roll a 3 becomes the 3 man. No rules apply until there is an initial 3 Man.
2. Every time a 3 is rolled by a player other than the 3 man, the 3 Man must drink.
3. If the 3 Man rolls a 3, he or she is no longer 3 Man. The next player to roll a 3 is the 3 Man. All other rules are still in effect.
4. If at any time a player rolls double 3's, he or she is automatically the new 3 Man.
5. Any player to roll doubles other than 3's passes the dice either to one or two players, who then roll(s) the dice. If the dice rolled are doubles, the passer drinks and then passes the dice on to the next player. If they are not doubles, both players drink.
6. If a 7 is rolled, the person to the left of the roller drinks. if an 11 is rolled, the person to the right of the roller drinks.
7. If a 10 is rolled (doubles or not) every player drinks (it's a social!)
8. If at anytime, a player makes another player drink (not including him or herself), he rolls again. If a player is able to roll 3 times in a row, he or she gets to make a rule.
9. If the dice are rolled off of the table/playing area twice consecutively by one player, that player must finish the rest of his or her beer. If that beer is almost gone, get a new one and finish that.
Cool game, :thumbup1:
but it'd only be roleplaying if you did it in costume. :D

When we play, the 3-man always has to wear a silly hat, like an empty case box, or a Japanese gardening hat. So in a sense, it is a costume game.

"Now you must wear the silly hat!" sounds like something out of Monty Python. :D
I was joking, Sex Wax, because I didn't think you were seriously asking about whether or not it counts as roleplaying. Kind of the bottom line in roleplaying is adopting/playing an alternate persona (though this REALLY VARIES by group and type of game). So no, 3-man is a drinking game by genre, not an RPG.
But on that subject, does anyone know of a game that is both a roleplaying and a drinking game?

Indeed! Thanks for the info.
It looks like some meet-up planning is going on over there. There's a thread, titled "First Meet-up!" on the "Meet-ups" page at:
http://oki-rpg.wetpaint.com/page/Meet-ups
Anyone who's interested in meeting other RPers here should probably check it out. :D
