Ok...so I've posted a few times and received a TON of great information. Thanks to everyone! I was looking through and curious as to what type of employment opportunities there are for military spouses.

What do people do whos husbands' are at work and children are at school? I'll go crazy sitting all day! Maybe I'll let the kids drop out of school and we can just tour the island and try new fun things everyday. Is that acceptable in Okinawa? Ha!

For real, any info. on nursing jobs with the naval hospital? I have worked in the past in the emergency room at Camp Lejeune just as a contracted nurse but I think it is different there. It is a DOD position there right? I have seen the openings on USAjobs.com but have also heard it is useless to apply prior to arriving and that I must volunteer my time as a nurse prior to being employed. Is that right? Am I covered for malpractice if I am volunteering? That makes me a wee bit nervous! Am I able to volunteer in my specialty? How long must I volunteer? Oh, so many questions, must I go on?
Make the craziness stop!!!

Are there nursing needs on base? I might end up going crazy and roam the island lost, dazed and confused for three years. Hmm...

Red Cross is always looking for Volunteers especially for hospital. You can check out the schools to see if they need nurses.

When my husband works and deployed, kids are at school, I drive around the Island and find new things/places. There is so much to do on this Island. When my husband is off work/not deployed I show him all the places I found.
