Do you think it exists? Do you think contact is possible either from them or from us? Is it wise to make contact? Why do you think intelligent life has not yet contacted us if there are more advanced civilizations than our own? How do you think general society or the majority of the world population would react once contact was made i.e. either we contact their world and visit them or vice versa?
-----------------------------------------------------------
I'll start and answer a few of the questions:
I think it exists, but I think contact is so improbable that I think the expenditures of recourses in trying to do so is wasteful, and that those recourses should always be applied to more practical matters here, or just simple space exploration without any goal of trying to make contact.
I don't think it is wise to make (or even try to make) contact with intelligent alien life if it is possible.
I also believe we have not been contacted by intelligent life because I believe intelligence extinguishes itself in a short period of time after it advances to a certain level of intelligence and technology, and hence the time period needed to develope even more technology to make contact and travel to those places are too long -- longer than what is needed before intelligence extinguishes itself.
Do you have any thoughts on intelligent alien life and on those questions above? I think we all have thought of some of those questions when we get a good view of a star filled night.

Why do you think intelligent life has not yet contacted us..
If you were from another planet, and saw how much fighting was going on on earth (humans) would you stop here? I sure wouldn't.

I don't think we can say it does'nt. We don't even know how big the universe really is. There could be other planets and galexies so far away.
I think it would be ignorant to dismiss the fact.
I also agree with Data Link if they were able to come here why would they? With all the fighting and kaos. Also maybe they can't survive here, maybe they breathe CO2 and some other gas instead of O2.
Also it would probaly take a very long time to geet here probaly.
Or maybe they are just like Roger from American Dad.
The first thought that came into my mind while reading the OP here was that there is plenty of intelligent:rolleyes: alien life right here on this forum as well.:-| :D.
But who knows for sure, to me at least, it is rather narrow minded to think that "we" earth dwelling beings are the only form of intelligence in the universe.
It would not surprise me at all if there is life somewhere else looking at us and commenting on how "dumb" all of us down here really are.
Taking a look at how hard we "humans" attempt to exterminate each other what's to say that we are or have any true intelligence at all? Who knows maybe "they" want nothing to do with a planet such as ours anyway.

We know quite a bit about the universe now. We know how long it will be when:
1. Our sun burns out.
2. Andromeda galaxy collides with our Milky Way.
We also know the universe is at least 13 billion light years across. We know how stars form, how they die, how black holes are formed, and the existance of invisible matter.
We can only estimate, but with the billions of solar systems within just our own galaxy- a galaxy amoung billions of galaxies that there must be life somewhere out there.
We have about 4 billion years to figure out how to leave our galaxy. After that, we will not be able to live here.
Either we find another place to live, kill each other off, or kill the planet. Those are the options. So yes, I assume we will one day visit other life forms.
Have we been visited? I doubt it. We are a needle in a haystack, invisible beyond our own solar system. Our sun is bright in comparison however, so maybe we'll be located.
At that time, we may very well need to redifine our definition of "life" however.

I suppose intelligent alien life out there is just as possible as an intelligent creator of all life, known to many as "God".
I do find it interesting that many people out there have no problem believing in aliens that they have never actually scene, but then turn around and criticize those who believe in God because no one has ever scene God.

I hardly doubt there is intelligent alien life out there, I mean, It's even difficult to find on earth!! :)
I don't think we've been visited either.
Seriously... what is the closest star system to our own... almost 100 light years away? We are a very small star system among an infinite amount of others. Why would be the target for visitors?
Lets say for example that; It's just us and THEM. They were listening for a signal from anywhere for years (SETI).
They JUST HAPPENED to pick up our very first radio transmission ever produced that showed we had "life", it would have been picked up quite recently due to the whole speed of light theory. Then... Presuming they could travel at light speed, they should be here in about 100 years!!
thats of course IF they weren't watching some reality TV program or surfing the net when our first signal was transmitted.
