So a buddy and I went golfing yesterday in the crap-tastic weather that it was. We left at 1030 when it was sunny, but by the time we got to Awase it was freezing! Both of us had worn short sleeve shirts, which sucked. We ended up going into the pro shop and buying long sleeve shirts.

So we payed for the green fees and go a cart and I rented clubs like normal. I've been slowly working on getting my own set for a while, club here, club there.

Anywho, we totally bombed the first 9 holes and for some reason, despite saying that we would probably only do 9 after the 7th hole, we decided to go ahead and do the back 9 as well. Holes 10 and 11 were the best holes I've ever played. I was one under par on both holes where I normally finish a par 4 in about...well...7 or so. Well, we ended up playing the rest of the holes as if it was our first time ever. I've only been golfing for a couple months and have only actually "golfed" on a course 3 times, including this time.

Once we finally finished the 18th we carted back up to the pro shop area and were greeted by one of the workers. I am guessing he was someone important...people know him or something.

He asks, "So you a regular?"
I respond, "No, not really."
He said, "Do you plan on being one?"
I said, "I would like to"
He goes, "Follow me, I might have a late Christmas and New Year present for you."

He led us back to the club rental area. I turned mine in and he was in the back talking with the one of the workers. I glanced over to my friend and I could tell he was thinking what I was thinking. Was this guy about to give me a full set of clubs...for free? Well, sure enough, after a couple minutes he comes back with a bag and a full set of used clubs. "Enjoy and happy New Year" he remarked.

I couldn't believe it! After coming out in shite weather and playing even worse golf I was getting this? Talk about a great start for the new year! :D

Cool story, but I still hate golf:D

I like to go to the driving range, but never really got into golf. Last time I tried to play the little helper guy was being a dick to me and my buddy so I told him I didn't need his shit and I left.

Sweet! Not too bad of a Christmas/New Year gift!
Hope that is a sign of how the rest of the year will go for ya!

I love this story. Just like when I was in McDill one day with some close buddies. Real addicts, trekking out of Miami to Tampa for a round and back. Out of nowhere the starter comes and says, "You guys want to do another round, go ahead, sir. Till you can't see the ball".

Did you get a driver with the set? I have a spare John Daly, just a beginner's but a ripper, if interested.

Thanks ja_P, but I did. I had just recently bought some $35 driver from the exchange as well. The one that came with it was a Callaway Big Bertha. It's a nice club, but I honestly can't tell the difference between the two :p I'm just happy if I can hit the ball straight with my driver as is! :o I need to take some lessons, I just haven't gotten around to it. Meh. Maybe sooner or later I will. But again, thanks for the offer!
