I know it's early...but I'm gonna call this one now. Pats become the first team since the 1972 Dolphins to run the table.
No doubt that they will do it, as the Giants are absolutely awful at home this year, and the majority of their fans are selling their tickets at $1,000 a pop to NE fans that want to see the game!
Add to that, Coughlin would be an idiot to play his starters this week when he has absolutely nothing to gain by doing so. I know...he'll play them anyway...because he is hard headed!
Either way, the Pats win this game and complete the perfect season!

So why is Coughlin an idiot to play his starters, but Belichick is not?
NE has A LOT more to lose if someone were to get hurt than NY does.
The Giants are a long shot to win the Super Bowl in the first place, so who cares if they actually try win a game on their own field? Are they just supposed to roll over for the Pats and say here you go, or should the Pats actually have to ***gasp*** EARN a win?
If you had to pick 1 player on an NFL team who is most important to that team and would make the biggest impact if they were hurt, who would that be?
If your answer is not Tom Brady, then you are kidding yourself. And what happens if Tom Brady got injured in this game? Trading a possible Super Bowl Title for a regular season accomplishment?
WAYYYY to much is being made of this 16-0 junk. So what if they go 16-0? They still need to win the Super Bowl before it means anything. If they go 16-0 and lose in the playoffs, it is meaningless.
It would be even more tragic if they did go 16-0 but at the cost of their Quarterback getting injured in the final regular season game and having to go to a backup (who isn't Tom Brady).

Looks like they are going to get it. Don't really care for either team but good game so far.

The interception by Manning I think is the play that turned the game. I was rooting for the Giants but now that the game is pretty much in the bag have to give credit where credit is due, New England did it.
Now then can they go the rest of the way?

I disagree with this statement purely because both teams are heading to the playoffs and NE does have a first round bye but the Giants dont.
Also I think that when it comes to the playoffs every team has a chance, whether they are 16-0 or 8-8, as you know there is no next week for the loser.

That's the million dollar question. Lots of football left to be played and everyone's record is 0-0 at the start of the playoffs.

Brady means more to the Pats that ANYONE does to the Giants. Many NY fans sometimes HOPE Eli would get hurt (sad to say). Many are saying he cost them the game today, although he did play a very solid game.
The Patriots are NOWHERE NEAR the same team without Brady at the helm.

That is why they get paid the big bucks....I dont think that Brady is going to just sit still on the sidelines when they had/have an opportunity to make history as he did today.
Sure he is important, however the rest of the team is not chicken feed either.

And I wouldn't think that the Giants would roll over and hand the Pats a victory on their home field without making them earn it.
Brady broke the single season TD record and is a SB MVP. I think it would be silly to say that the Pats are even remotely close to being the same offensive team with Matt Cassel at QB. I'm sure most people, including some so-called Pats fans, have no idea who the heck he is.

Let's see...why would the Giants sit their starters???
How about this? The Giants lost center Shaun O'Hara, backup safety Craig Dahl and linebacker Kawika Mitchell, all with knee injuries! They have to play another game next week and lost key players for no reason other than stupid pride! Good going Coughlin, you almost won the game...now you probably ended your season!

And the Pats took the SAME chance today playing their starters. Period.
Sure, you can sit there and say that now, especially since the Pats came away basically injury free (lucky for them). What would you have to say had Brady or Moss gotten their leg rolled on and were lost for several weeks or the remainder of the season for a game that basically amounted to nothing more than a bunch of regular season stat padding? Most likely singing a different tune, I would think.

No matter what, the Pats had 2 weeks to recover, the Giants didn't. Just not worth the risk to me.

This guy has it on the money...I found this on another board:
I am glad another team besides the Dolphins have now gone undefeated. Moss & Brady now have records for individual achievment. Those achievements don't mean a thing during the playoffs. They still have to throw the ball like crazy due to a lack of being able of running effectively (except against the Jets).
I still think they are idiots for risking injury for their key athletes, just to get in the record books. I don't forget the phrase "pride goes before a fall." In this case they are off the hook. Still, don't be surprised if Jacksonville, Pittsburgh, or the Colts beat them.
How can a team be considered the greatest of all time when they are one dimensional on offense? The Patriots defense is good but one of the best? No way. They are a great team, they have a great system and lots of bucks
The Pats ran for 46 yards yesterday. 46 freakin' yards!!!! Are you kidding me? It has been obvious all year that they can run or run block, so shut down the receivers and keep Brady from running up the middle for a scambling first down! I know...easier said than done.
My hats off to the Pats...but it's gotta be more luck or karma or something, cause they are not the best team out there.
On another thought. Do any of you suspect that Brady might retire early? It seems like through some statements he's made that he is getting bored with his life. Just wondering.

Who in the AFC playoffs though has the defense that can shut Brady down for an entire game?
I think that the Colts could do it....but personally would love to see Green Bay and New England have at it in the SuperBowl:D

I understand why the Pats played their starters, but I agree that NY should have rested their guys. They will have another game next week and the loss of those starters today will be big.

Many injuries these days take much more than just an extra week off to recover from. Brady is MVP of the league. Not worth the risk to me.
If Brady were to go down, the Pats would be done like dinner. They are not even remotely the same team without him.
If the Pats had played their backups, I'm sure the Giants would have followed their lead.
But I guess everyone expected the Giants to simply lay down on their own field and bow to the almighty Patriots and just hand them another win.
Heck, I guess the Giants should've just said we forfeit the game. No sense of even playing it. You guys can just have the win. Wouldn't want to risk an injury, right?

There's a difference...No, the Pats don't run much...because they CHOOSE not to. They can when they want to, and do. They keep other teams guessing and always keep the threat of a running play in the defenses mind so their opponents can't simply drop 8 into pass coverage every play.
The Pats are 13th in the league in rushing at nearly 116 yards a game. There are 19 teams that are below them in that stat. They can run when they need to. Their QB is the MVP...not really putting his talents to use if he's handing the ball off for half the game.
