I hope the Liddell and Wand fight is going to be a good one. Liddell pretty much needs this fight. He's already gone from top dog to losing two in a row. One more would put him in a really bad spot. Wand on the other hand is one of my favorites around. I don't want to see him lose either. Is this going to be televised anywhere?

Takako

AFN will start broadcasting at 0800 with the Best of 2007, then the fight starts at 0900 or 1000.

If your a Wand fan here's the UFC All Access that aired yesterday:

We are a house divided on the Liddell/Silva fight.

I THINK we are ordering the Pay Per View, It's $40 and is a MUCH better deal that going to the event!! Cheapest seats were $100 & $500 and there was only a couple of them & the likelihood of being able to see the people in ring was next to non-existent. They were up over $1,000 after that, add to it gas, hotel, food, sitter for the kids, yeah the $40 PPV is a much better deal! :)
Of course hearing it live woulda been neat, drunk a$$holes to deal with wouldn't of been so neat.

Maybe Liddell will lose on purpose to get more attention/ add more drama as he works his way back up?
Or perhaps he lost the last two as a psych-out Silva & put him in a diff mind set?

I dunno, hope it is worth it. Lotta time, money & training goes into these things, always feel bad for the loser when they are OUT in 15 secs. :(

I mean sure you will know the end all results before ever receiving the copy, but you could still get to see the fights play out.

I hate to say it, but I think Wanderlei will beat Chuck. He's got a wicked kick and I really don't see Chuck ever use a whole lot of ground game or kicking. But I'd really like to see Chuck win.

Maybe "the good life" is getting him to not train as hard.

It doesn't look like the fight starts until 1200. It's the Best of 2007 from 0800-1100. 1100-1200 is the pre-fight intro's. Then the fight at 1200.

Getting pretty psyched! Fight starts in an hour and 15, already ordered through pay per view and have the dvd recorder set up and ready!

I've been a long time Liddell fan, so he's got my vote for the match. Temp can't stand him cause he is "cocky", so she'll be routing for Silva. I will give Silva credit though, he is definitely a dangerous fighter so Liddell better have trained hard!

round one...after delay to a groin shot....

Round three....

Soa is bloody and battered...
Sanchez landing some great combo's and all Soa does is try and tie it up....survival not winning is the what is seems to be Palelei's goal.....

Ref calls it Round three with a TKO.
Ends with comment from Sanchez "who has a pretty smile now?"

Guess Palelei commented before the fight about Sanchez havin a pretty smile, not about his hands, hits or whatever.....so Sanchez was bringin that up.

Side note-
After the PPV is over you can log on to the UFC site for after fight comments & fighter interviews.

very cautious & slow start.

Liddell's reach proves helpful!!
Jab, jab, jab.
Silva gets some decent pops in return.

Tempestuous

Round 2

Silva opens the round with some zing.
First 2 min he keeps Liddell on the defensive.

Had chuck fall two times with more than 2 min in the round...but he doesnt jump on it....trying to prove the point he can "stand" with chuck?

almost had chuck in a submission with just 10 seconds ....

a KO coulda came from either fighter this go!!!! They both were laying some kick ass punches!!!

GOOD FIGHT!

Tempestuous
12-30-2007, 12:58 PM
Round THREE
10 secs in Chuck dives in for a clip to the ground....Silva brought it back up!

Silva landing some good combo's crowd NOT happy about it!!

Liddell has silva to the fence and the chance to bomb him....but tired...silva able to duck every other punch.....

TENSE!!!
45 SECS LEFT!

20 seconds left...chuck takes it to the floor to try (pathetically being they are both wiped) for a submission.

Hughes vs St Pierre

Slow start....think I am sleeping. :D
Naw, Hughes has gone into the danger zone a couple of times to go in for the take down.
George is aggressive in the first actual take down.
2 min left George is ground and pounding it.
Up against the fence with a min and half left George landing some sweet facial
Matt got several severe head hits to the back of the head, george body slamming Matts head against the mat over and over tryin to get Matt to release a body hold.

Almost got an arm lock in but with only a sec or two left & it was a no go
george totally dominated.

Round two....

not even 1 min in & george has another take down.

NOT good for Matt! He is gettin dominated.

More of the same but Matt is avoidin at least SOME of the hits, but still say George is winning at mid point of the round.

Matt escapes a back mount

But gets stuffed Back up against to the fence.....

Matt gets in with a possible take down with only a min left.... no go!

George comes back with take down and side control.

He gets a Arm on one side and a triangle on the other side......

EIGHT seconds left

Hughes TAPS!!!

Gam is jumpin for a take down within seconds!

Gets a take down the second try & is goin for broke!

333 on the clock Gam gets a leg/ankle lock & at 328 left on the clock Nate Morh taps due to ankle lock.

kinda bummed Silva didn't pull through and win....busy makin a statement tryin to stand to Liddell the whole time. Ah, well. Still was one to watch. Not many land that many punches from Liddell and are still standing, punching and able to speak coherently. So give him kudos for being one tough cookie. :)

That was one hell of a fight between Liddell and Silva! Was well worth watching.

I think if Silva hadn't tried to make a statement by standing toe to toe with Liddell, and tried to take it to the mat, he might have had a chance to beat Liddell with a submission. But he did a damn good job even still and I do look forward to a possible re-match in the future!

Great Fight, Good Action

This was a good fight, and I was really happy that Clementi was able to win it! In the prefight interviews, Guillard said some pretty nasty things that were really not necessary and very unsportsmanlike IMHO. If I were Dana White, I would seriously consider removing Guillard from the UFC family. He's already been suspended once and just needs to be kicked to the curb.

I was glad that Guillard got his ass handed to him. He's a great athlete, but his ground game sucks. I don't care much for him either, we'll see if he came coked up to this fight.

I tend to be a fan of the fighters that show a mutual respect for the other fighters and their opponent at the time even though that sounds corny. Yes they are here to fight, yes they want to beat the crud out of each other, but there is no reason that the fighting can't be left in the ring and everyone can't go enjoy a drink afterwards!

Or that your going to slap them around regardless of if it's in the ring or out.

Blah, blah, blah, the ending of the fight proved more then petty words.

To top it off, even after the fight was over, after he lost, he kept running his damn mouth. Look dude, you lost, you got your ass handed to you, now just deal with it like a man and go on.

Good fights! I couldn't believe it; Silva barely did any kicking, though. I thought he would go the Keith Jardine route (last guy who beat Chuck) and just keep kicking the hell outa Chuck, wearing him down. Boy, Chuck's reach advantage was pretty evident and almost funny. But I couldn't believe Liddell couldn't finish Silva off at the end.......his cardio must not be that great. Maybe it's his age.

George St. Pierre (GSP) is one class act guy. The dude is just a great guy, and he looks like a freakin' machine. I hope he thrashes Matt Sera in the future. Man, his high kicks are just badass. Seeing such an awesome fighter who's actually humble and gracious.......you just gotta respect him even more.

I didn't hear about all the "bad blood" between Guillard and Clementi, but I noticed that right as Guillard tapped out, with Clementi on his back, Clementi did some kind of little "hip thrust".....kind of like, whoa!! I'd never seen that kind of animosity between fighters in the UFC before. That was pretty entertaining.

Well I think it was from the crap Guillard was talkin prior to the fight, I wanna end his career, Im gonna smack him around in or out of the ring/where ever I see him.
Then he walks into the ring and starts aggressing before they even intro them. He is talking and flipping the bird on both hands and physically moving in.
Clementi just stood his ground and did that little thrust at the beginning. So he brought it around full circle come the end...kinda funny. Just an in your face "suck it" Mr.Badass!
