So what is so wrong with Christian Embassy? Is there prayer and Bible study, somehow disturbing you, is it too loud?

Christians are not allowed to practice their faith, have their own moral values, congregate with their other fellows? I am sure that 80% of the pentagon is of the Christian faith. I think it is a good thing for them to have some where to retreat during the day. Good for them.

To say that the pentagon cannot have this Christian Embassy, is to say that, none of the military bases can have chaplains or chapels..

I can understand where some of the steam comes from though. There are three types of Christians; Christians who are raised Christians who never go to church or go seasonally; real Christians who completely understand and practice the teachings of Jesus; and extremist Christians the ones who like to shove Jesus down your throat, which are terribly destroying Christianity.. And yes the extremist Christians I believe will be punished by God. But there are extremist in every religion.

Christianity is the main stream religion in the states, so it gets the most publicity whenever there is foul play. Not everything is perfect.

Their bible study doesn't bother me at all. What bothers me is their active goal of filling government positions (our own and foreign) with Christians and their efforts at proselytizing and getting government officials to do that, too.

Did you watch those videos on the other thread? Are you trying to tell us that they are only about Bible study? There weren't any remarks made by those interviewed or the narrator that were troubling or that should be viewed with concern?

It's not the fact that there is one. It's the fact that some of these congressmen are saying they let their faith influence their decisions. What should be influencing their decisions is the public, not god.

No one said they couldn't practice their faith, just what I stated above. Oh, and what about the other 20%?

Yes, I did watch the videos. I don't think they are about just bible study. I don't think there is anything wrong with them trying to convert or recruit(Proseltilize) others in thier faith.. I am not Christian, I am Buddhist. I have no problem with what they are doing. You have to understand the esential element of the christian faith, that is to spread the gospel, to recruit, convet, prositilize. They believe in salvation thru Jesus Christ, and they want everyone to experience this salvation. It's actually a very beautiful thing if you look at it right. Muslims do the same thing, and are very aggressive about it. Why don't you go over there and question and riducule what theyre doing, and you may get your head cut off at the same time.

So I don't see christian embassy cuting heads off. Whats so wrong with them practicing there corp belief. If they preach to people, and peple exept and believe what they so dearly believe, then thats fine. If they don't want anything to with them, then they can just say no thanks..

I don't see any problems..

My atheism allows me to exercise common sense. I mean, I could get my head cut off by going over there and not even ridiculing them. Just something as simple as naming a teddy bear Mohammed could get me killed.

When Islam experiences something on the order of a Reformation, like Christianity did, then Islamic countries would be a good tolerant place to visit and speak freely. Until then, I will have to refuse all junior high schoolish challenges and dares at bravery.

The problem is that government and military leaders should be in the grip of rationalism -- not mysticism. I want ratonal innervoice dialogue going on with my leaders, not innervoice dialogues going on with make believe personal relationships where a mythical figure is telling them to help usher in Armegeddon so as to prepare the way for His return.
