Hi everyone (all 41 of us?) and lurkers too. Don't mind me, long-time in Okinawa- shima gaijin too- trying to maintain my anomynity without being an "E-Thug" who tends to type faster than he thinks. :D
I hope this site really takes off as JU has been a part of my experience here, as well as many others.
(now if I can only stop being baited by TP) ;)
Welcome to the forums. I've really enjoyed your posts. :)
We're actually at 49 right now! But one of those is a test account for when we admin/mods need to test something and another is our news bot. So 47. But close enough!

That was the epitome of "me." Had I further read on, your intent would have been more obvious. lol. Your goals were achieved though, as I bit the bullet and (gasp) registered!
Despite my prediliction of slaughtering whales and burning Christians at the stake, I really am a decent sort. :D

lol. Again, glad you did.
Hopefully more will feel a need to speak out, too. Doing so can be quite fun and a learning experience as well.

Interesting you should mention seals. For a long time, commericial fishermen have been carrying weapons on board to kill the seals which chase the fish they catch. Something about a proliferation of seals after being protected has caused an overabundance which has brought in more predetary sharks.
Of course the commerical fishermen can no longer fish because (depending upon which lobby group you believe):
1. The Japanese have caught all of the salmon and now there aren't anymore, or
2. The US timber industry has lain all of the natural hatcheries to waste with their logging equipment.
Leave it to me to turn in introduction thread into yet another political soap box! ( I have an opinion on absolutely everything) :D

Also no longer a lurker, former politics and history major who's lived in East Asia for a few years. Hope I can get some good info / perspectives on the North Korea / PRC / Taiwan / Japan security ecosystem here.
