Nice video.

Me and my wife were talking about that and how she doesn't like telling people Happy Holidays.

For those PC fags out there this day is about Christ. J.C. It's also about a person Nmaed SAINT NICK. YES he was a Saint. If you dont like it tell your snot bags not to celebrate it and dont even akknowledge the fvking day. Tell your kids you dont believe and dont celebrate it.

You still have new years anyway.

"fags" "gay" a lot of homophobia coming from some - perhaps some protest too much. Anything you forgot to tell us about prison. Hmmmm.

I remember that Christmas movie fondly! I rather enjoy Christmas movies during the season. I'm watching the Muppet Christmas Carol even now. heh. I always liked that Christmas was an amalgam of a different religions and seasonal traditions that seemed to all get along. No one way to celebrate it is right or wrong. I like that the main point is to celebrate life and loved ones. So lay off the negative stuff before the ghosts of Christmas git' you! :D

Fonze, see my other post. Since we don't have any other way to know you, you (everyone is) are what you write here. You sometimes call TP a hypocrite, but what is someone who sez he loves his gay uncle and then uses words like fag, nancy, punk, etc. as a general putdown without thinking about what they actually mean?

I don't personally see anything wrong with it. I mean when I call someone an asshole I'm not exactly calling them some puckered up brown star that dispenses crap. I mean think of the word gay in itself. Its used to describe homosexuals and homosexuality but not all of them are happy now are they? Words can have more than one meaning and its really up to the person saying it imo. A little bit of artistic license if you will.:D

OK, let's hear more opinions about how words are used indiscriminately. By the way, Doug, kiss my butt. (artistic license)

what wrong with sayin happy holidays? there more than holiay in december ppl cebrate.. theres hanukah, Eid and Kwanzaa.. when i say it to ppl i think im covering all those cause i have friends that celebrate different things during this time of year

its also the worse time of year to get broke shopping for presents and the worst time of year for getting depressed and as soon as its over after jan. 1st everyone is back to their old selves again. its a nice time of year to spend with fam and friends but other than that its just another day to me.. it really aint about jesus' birthday anyway to me

Completely agreed ,but the day of the 25th is what? CHRISTmas, and about SAINT NICK. And what i meant was that is what that specific day is. If there are people that dont like its true meaning, than don't even acknowledge the day.

for other holidays why not call them by there name also.

DougP
12-23-2007, 11:00 PM
The 25th of December is has also been celebrated as the day of the winter solstice and day of rebirth of the Sun. Its also Quaid-e-Azam's Day in Pakistan, Constitution Day in Taiwan(iirc), The feast day of Anastasia of Sirmium and Yule which is a winter festival associated with the winter solstice celebrated in northern Europe since ancient times.

The more you know.:D

Thanks alot smartass. Okay then what does Christmas mean? Are these not celebrated anymore cause you put has?

DougP
12-23-2007, 11:05 PM
In many ways Yule still is. In fact many of the things associated with the holiday of Christmas are derived from traditional pagan northern European Yule celebrations. The burning of the Yule log, the decorating of Christmas trees, the eating of ham, the hanging of boughs, holly, mistletoe, etc. are all historically practices associated with Yule. Christmas has become a lot of things to a lot of people all over the world. Some people are happy with just the commercialized aspects of while traditionalists cling to more religious practices associated with the birth of Christ etc. I do find it funny how some people get mad about it all and swear up and down that Christmas and the 25th of December are just about Jesus. Then they go back home and decorate a Christmas tree which has nothing to do with the it at al,l at least not in the Christian sense.

When we first got here i would let the Jehovahs in my house to tell them my form of religion. I still wonder how they got on base? In the states my mom would always let them in.

Anyways why would jehovahs not like it?

If I remember right (I got this from a Witness here in Naha a couple of yrs ago), they believe it is profaning the whole Jesus bit by celebrating his birthday, even the resurrection so no Easter bunnies either. Honest, I was so surprised when he rejected my e-mailed greetings that I didn't pay much attention to the fuzzy logic.

I don't remember all the "reasoning" behind them but I know that they really don't celebrate much of anything except maybe New Years and Valentine's day.

A sad boring existence if you ask me...no birthdays, Christmas, or Easter...man would never get any cool new toys! :)

(Yeah, I know, not exactly the true meaning of some of those holidays)

Tempestuous
12-24-2007, 12:11 PM
They don't celebrate because of the pagan relations of it.
There is no mention in the bible of any such practices, therefore it must be pagan. The only two times birthdays are celebrated are done so by NON-believers in the their one true God, so therefore it must also be a pagan practice as well.

They only celebrate Memorial not to be confused with Memorial Day....but the day of which to remember & memorialize the death of Jesus. Some acknowledge wedding anniversary's but other than that holidays & celebrations related to them are pagan in nature and NOT to be practice.

They are usually kind enough to not be ugly should a person who practices or believes in such practices say something to them.

They may even smile and give you acknowledgment should you say Merry Christmas. You likely wouldn't be sued.....assuming they don't generally believe in initiating a lawsuit either, it isn't very Christ-like.

You mean they actually try to tolerate other people's beliefs and practices, and don't try to belittle or insult them??? *Gasp* what a concept!

I suppose in the POLICTIALLY CORRECT world today. Any person's beliefs should not be shared or known. What is funny is the USA was founded on freedom of religion and because it was Christianity first that was brought to America then this would be the first to be attcked. Although, I have friends of all religions and respect each of their holidays. I would never bag on someone because they choose to celebrate another religion. Maybe because Christmas is so commericalized they have an issue with it. The spirit of Christmas is what is within each person with a title. A loving, giving, humanity. Something that most people should be anyway. Of course it's also, in the celebration of the birth of Christ. But in all it's about how you see the holiday to the non believers and those of other religions. F*U for anyone who continues to dog a tradition. Damn what is next? Taking away Thanksgiving? That is non religious holiday but if you only read the history books on this day. Omg, we sat with Indians and gave thanks. Someone come up with a PC for that one. I hate Polically Correct people. I wish I was growing up in the 70's where no one gave a damn ... and people are just people. NO MATTER Race, creed, color, blah blah blah .
Ok I am so done.
