As most people here know there is a "history" between me and TP regarding a number of different issues. I only reference that to show the reason for how I responded to him on the above linked thread.

If TP starts a thread here and I or anyone else questions the motivation or reasoning for the thread we either get the RED MODERATOR WARNING sign telling us to keep things on topic or have the post deleted or moved.

Now then are we all to suddenly believe that TP who likes to raise "high-brow" intelligent topics for scholastic discussion suddenly out of nowhere decides to drag from the :dead: a 4 month old link and add duplicate information, without reading the OP and 1 short reply, did so out of altruistic reasons to just provide helpful :rolleyes: information to people here?

Now then back to the question of the OP.....
TP responce was condescending to me, I told him to kiss my butt, I would tell anyone to do the same thing, and to their face as well remember that, if they talked to me in the manner he did in replying.

Now if I was telling him to get screwed, I would have come straight out and told him get screwed or kiss my ass, or any other number of colorful phrases that I have and I am sure everyone else here has at thier disposal.

Do you agree? Do you disagree? Oh and the infraction I received was for "insulting" another member, him TP the forum moderator.........(sigh).....

Look at his signature.....that is an insult to me directly, yet DK does nothing about. Yet another member here was forced into changing their signature because of a different issue. I only use that as an example.

So when I wrote what I did in reply to dk about removing the infraction or removing me I did so knowing fully well what could happen. I do so with a clear conscience that I am not "guilty" of anything here, and I leave the choice to him, and what choice he makes, ban me or not....his choice.

Which ever he chooses tells me the direction he chooses to take with this board.

So I get infractions for telling someone to "Kiss my butt" and that is an "insult":rolleyes::rolleyes:

Steve there were three links in the OP and one clearly had Mihama written in it. Draw your own conclusions from that please. Like I wrote there is a history between us and this is just another of his little games.

I am sorry but I will have to agree to disagree with you, I use the phrase kiss my ass along with **** you, and shinasundo, often in conversation, depending on the person.

Depending on their usage I disagree that they are insults all the time. Particularly when used with :rolleyes::rolleyes: marks and not :mad::mad: or :cursing::cursing:. Big difference on a net forum too.

I think it's funny if TP actually was insulted by the phrase "kiss my butt". I don't like brining up old news, but TP insulted me big time back in the day and he didn't get any type of infractions. Why? Becuase the mod team didn't feel like I as insulted, even though I said I felt insulted by his remarks. But that's in the pass, and I really don't care about that incident anymore.

You might want to take some care geographically as well, Mook. On the mainland, saying shinasu or the equivalent korosu is extremely strong and likely to be taken literally. On Okinawa, it's basically like saying "f- you!". The reactions you'll get will be rather different.

It's not like it's a slip of the pen, an isolated incident with respect to TP. I have 6 or 7 "infraction warnings" from this same moderator. A few were for not using "quotation marks"(!) and one for "insulting" using the phrase "...you may be a bigger fool than you think are...", subsequently adjudicated as nothing even close to.

A pattern of poor biased subjective judgment, IMO.

That being said, this has improved a lot lately.

In the spirit of Christmas, I personally would have let TP's comment pass.

I have gone out of my way intentionally to avoid any direct interaction with TP, guaranteed as it were to easily lead to undesired unpleasantness - and so much ado about nothing.

I don't think any of this tone of discussion was a motivation to move to Okinawa. Besides, it's Christmas.

I myself am rather sensitive to the issue. While working as a manager on the mainland, we had a situation at our school that needed immediate attention. One teacher came to us in the office and expressed confusion about his feelings and actions towards one kid in his class. We thanked him for coming to us, put him on leave while conducting an inverstigation, and decided to dismiss him. He was dismissed on the basis that one confused about their feelings towards children should not be in a position of power and responsibility over kids and working alone with them on a daily basis. We could find no incident of wrongdoing, but felt that it was riskier to keep him than to let him go. He understood and moved on.

If an authoritative figure, say, your boss, asked you to do something simple, say, make three copies of a report, and you told him to "kiss my butt", do you think he'd take it as a joke?

Sure, some authoritative figures may behave differently, depending on your relationship with them. But lets say, for example, that I was walking down Kokusai street, smoking a cigarette, knowing full well that it might get me in trouble, and I was stopped by a police officer who then proceeded to ask me to put out my cigarette. I wonder what'd happen if I told him to "kiss my butt".

I wonder if he'd take it as a joke.

Similarly, if my parents asked me to do something, say, turn off the tv and come to the table for dinner, and I told them to "Kiss my butt", I wonder how that'd work out for me.

And an infraction is just that. It's a small penalty, and it's not the end of the world. Nobody has been castrated (that I am aware of). If you earn an infraction, deal with it. Don't make matters worse for yourself unless you really actually WANT to deal with the consequences. DocP, TP, and myself are all in agreement that the one SINGLE infraction Muku received yesterday was warranted. We are in complete agreement. That's the whole moderation staff. So better luck next time.

But to use your analogies as an example if a cop gave you a ticket for no reason other than he didnt like the way you responded to him, I think you would bitch as well.

Could go either way on this one. But I'm leaning towards Muku, at this point.

On the one side, the moderation currently in place is good enough.

On the other hand, the idea that a "Mod" can post something that really gets another poster ticked off, and then complains if his respondent is taking things the wrong way, that's a bit much in my opinion.
