Boy Saves Sister from Moose Attack with Skills Learned in Warcraft Video Game

http://www.switched.com/2007/12/10/boy-saves-sister-from-moose-attack-with-skills-learned-in-warcra/This 12 year-old Norwegian boy saved his sister and himself from a moose attack using skills he picked up in the online role playing game 'World of Warcraft (http://www.gamedaily.com/games/world-of-warcraft/pc/game-main/list/2475/0/).'

Hans Jørgen Olsen and his sister got into a spot of trouble when they encroached on the territory of one of these antlered cold weather staples (otherwise known as a moose). When the beast went on the offensive, Hans knew the first thing he had to do was taunt it so that it would leave his sister alone and she could run to safety. "Taunting" is a move one uses in World of Warcraft to get monsters off of the less-well-armored team members.

Once he was a target, Hans remember another skill he'd picked up at level 30 in 'World of Warcraft' -- he feigned death. The moose lost interest in the inanimate Hans and wandered off into the woods. When he was safely alone Hans ran back home to share his tale of video game-inspired survival.

Had trouble deciding whether to put this in news or here... :o

Good thing it wasn't bear.:D Also its really interesting to hear a story about a WOW player that's actually outside of the house and not playing WOW. Must have been a power outage or something.:)

Yeah, or server maintanence, an upgrade, or a new expansion about to go live. :p

I'm just amazed that a 12 year old is playing. Back when I played ffxi, it was rare when you'd run into someone younger than 14. I think the average age was probably 18 or 19, and I had a bunch of friends in their late 20's early 30's. Even knew a lady who played in her late 40's.

Those 14 year olds were annoying as hell to play with. I can't imagine being in a group with a 12 year old! :o

Taunting and feinting death are not new "skills".

Purdy cool!! I don't know anything about Wow. Just know it is a game. Only game my hubby plays on the computer is Call of Duty. I am sure to come up on all of that once my son gets old enough. He is already a computer..eh..nerd and he is only 8.

Mortal Combat beating death (http://abcnews.go.com/US/wireStory?id=4030846)

I thought of this thread as soon as I heard this story last week.
One good story comes out and it is followed by a case of ignorance. :(

According to a police affidavit, the teens were baby-sitting Trujillo's half-sister, Zoe Garcia, on Dec. 6 while the girl's mother was at work. Zoe lost consciousness and stopped breathing after the teens hit, kicked and body-slammed her, imitating moves used in the video game, the document said.

That's a lie, there was no body slamming going on in mortal kombat:D

Nope, none at all! Body slamming and pile driving are DEFINITELY two completely different things! :D
