Hi. I am Jenna. Hubby and I have orders to go to Okinawa in November. Second time for me (I was there in 95) and his first time. We're really excited. I'm just happy that this time around, I have a resource for finding out how the heck to do this PCS move. It was easy when it was just me and a suitcase in1995! Now it's us and our little one and an English Bulldog puppy, plus all our stuff (at least the stuff we don't sell off first)!!! I just bought a new car too..man...

Well, Happy to be here....will deffinately be all ears!!!

Jenna

Thanks for the warm welcome! :) I am in the midst of deciding what will come with us and what won't. I figure, the more I sell or leave here, the more I can bring back to the States with us after our 3 years is up. Already sold my Weimaraner puppy...hubby's bringing the bulldog (she's a sweetheart!). I suppose we need to get in touch with Housing over there sooner rather than later. The pet quarantine is 90 days still?

yes, but it is usually in home quarantine. You can go to the base website and find a lot of useful info for PCS. Are you AF, MC or Navy?

:DWe're a coupla Jarheads...We've just learned that perhaps we can start the pet quarantine process over here before we arrive. She will, of course be well vaccinated and well taken care of because we plan on breeding her when she's ready. She's an awesome little girl!

Unfortunately, on the websites I've really only found general information. Nothing as truly in depth as I am looking for...that's why I've found other avenues such as these forums. Already you've all provided a little more insight than I could have found on that website! And I'm thankful for it!

My husband and I are wanting to get an English Bulldog puppy after the baby is born. Have you checked the MCCS Okinawa website for info on PCSing with pets and the quarantine (http://www.okinawa.usmc.mil/Living%20on%20Okinawa/PCSPet%20Page.html)? They also require we microchip our pets now. I think you can get it done here also. The link above should have most of your answers. Good luck.

I know there's a waiting list for on-base housing. Your military sponsor should be able to help set up the base side stuff for y'all. If you have to go off-base, I recommend Tsukasa-san at Sunny's Housing. She's fluent in English. Hopefully you get a house, but the Towers or a quadplex is more likely. They rebuilt Sada housing on MCB Butler with nice, new, sterile quadplex housing. Good luck on this too.

go to http://www.mcbbutler.usmc.mil/ Check out the site, especially under the information link. There are a lot of answers for your questions there.

If you have other questions that you can't find answers to, create a thread here about it and then when others have the same question, they can find it on this site!

Jenna, It is CWO Simon (Bryan). Unfortunately, I am no longer in Okinawa. I had to take an overseas tour to the United States!!! I am now stationed on the USS Wasp in Norfolk.

Be good over there and take care of yourself. My email is: coffeejoejava@gmail.com
