Well consider the sources. Plus I was pretty much the only one that showed any kind of anger or incredulance that at this thread.

That's like saying South Park only exists to piss off the Christians. South Park singles out Christians from time to time, but the show actually makes fun of everything.

Ok then let's discuss this a bit......you "told" me that TP started this thread to test the tolerance of the people posting here. Next you also told me that he doesnt actually believe what he is posting here.
However he has posted a number of posts that state the fact that he thinks that people from Miyako are prone to violence. And after those posts, he has continued to press the idea that people from there are genetically inclinded to violent behaviour.
I was and am the only person here that has shown any outward anger towards this.......and you support this racist line of thinking by allowing this thread to continue.

Shoot, I'd help just about anyone with any kind of research if they needed it. It's not me being racist. Should we ban all research that is potentially offensive?

I thought Miyako people were Okinawan. And I thought Okinawan people were Japanese. This has nothing to do with racism as far as I am concerned. Keep trying to convince me that this is about racism. I'm not going to close this just because one person is offended. Convince me that TP is racist. That's just absurd.

Particularly with the commentary that there is a genetic difference between Miyako people vs other Japanese?

Yeah Fonze be he has created the image that this thread is supposed to be an "intelligent" discussion about the genetic differences between Miyako people and "other" Japanese.
The point is however that he originally started this thread with the express purpose of pissing people off here.
A thing i do see wrong is that no miyakos can defend themselves here.
That is because there are no people from Miyako that are posting here, or that they dont have enough English skills to reply.
However dont think that they dont know this thread doesnt exist...... the Miyako City Office knows about it.

This is not a thread about TP or a thread about his threads. This is a thread directly about Miyako. If you object to the thread, either report it or create a new thread in the forum feedback section discussing what you think should not be allowed on the forum. If these off-topic posts about TP or about threads themselves being the topic -- and not the discussion topic continue, I will soon create an off-topic thread to take those comments away from this discussion so that it is not continuously derailed like this.

I've never seen South Park, but how you explained this is a good point.
And to everyone else -- besides, I am quite wide in casting a net to examine things I take issue with. Fonze has a list of things I have put up for scrutiny and criticism (all those they sure do not define my whole. I mean look at all my threads and their topics for a fuller picture).
I am not into discussion for all fluffy warm feelings of happiness, but more or less issues that are divisive in society and controversial and provocative. They bring a lot of people into discussion.
And I imagine South Park attracts a lot of viewers for some of their irony and parody and comedic scrutiny of issues. Should South Park go off the air because certain segments of society are offended? Even without seeing it, I would say no. Freedom of expression is important.
Btw, should hunting and fishing shows go off the air because ARists are offended by them? Maybe we should make a rule here saying, "No discussion about fishing here in Okinawa because it may upset ARists."
Of course not! You all feel free to talk about fishing as much as you want. My offense at the topic does not and never should infringe on your right to discuss those things. Please do so if it interests you.
I'm pretty sure you would actually enjoy South Park if you gave it a chance.

Man, I just watched the SouthPark Chinpokoman making fun of the Japanese and the U.S. and geeesh... funny funny funny. Now I can understand that with that kind of lampooning sense of humor a lot of people could get offended on any number of themes they would choose to target to comment on and look at. And that is it! Being offended is no reason to shut down a discussion and to examine things -- whether that takes a serious or lighthearted look at things.

cool site. I was trying to watch the new season of csi since they dont show it here anymore but it wouldn't work. It has many other shows though. you saved me money on buying these things.

And you are welcome to provide information that shows otherwise. That is what I would like of those of you who disagree with the view that some Okinawas hold. Give us information and data that shows this prejudice by some Okinawans does not rest on anything other than fiction. But, stopping the discussion because you do not like the topic and are offended because of it is not acceptable. A lot of information has been put forth looking at genetics and there will be some looking into of incarceration rates. Show us data against that or argue against that. Simple.
You can even make empty declarations against the data if you wish. But the topic is ok to discuss.
I haven't seen Okinawans post here. Have you?
