Ther's a lot of clubs and bars that play it but it's the same garbage ass bullshit over and over?

Is there anywhere that plays real Hip-Hop like Wu-Tang, Tupac, Biggie, Talib Kweli, old Mobb Deep, Nas, old Jay Z, Common, you know what I'm saying?

Here all the years I've been here they just play the same Mike Jones type of stupid hits that make Rap look like shit?

I just go to Fujiyamas and enjoy Rock now.

I think the majority of the young crowd is quite fickle these days and only care for the top 40 crap. Most of the Rap and Hip Hop that I like hasn't been on the air waves or in clubs for over ten years. I can't stand this new garbage.
Now this right here is what I like

Hip hop today is a truck load of turds.
It might be shiny on the outside with all dat bling, but when you stratch the surface, it still stinks.

I miss da old stuff, Parliament Funkadelic, Bootsy Collins, George Clinton,
Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five, Melle Mel, Kurtis Blow

I dunno if it's the same place but there's a Motown Philly Soul Bar that I used to go to. It's small but has a nice atmosphere to it. Charlie, the owner, has a wide variety of old school soul and R&B and if you ask, he can put on the new hip hop stuff too. The food there is great also, his own recipe cooked himself. It's all clean and stuff too. If you haven't been there yet here are the directions:

From Camp Foster take Route 58 toward Naha. Motown Philly Soul Bar is right off 58 on the fourth floor of the Hana Building across 58 from the Okinawa Actor School and Pepsi building.

Charlie is real nice and he's been around the world being he is retired form the Air Force so you can talk to him about a lot of stuff.

I was out with Mad Hatter a month or two ago, wandering gate 2 street (I know, not known for the best music in the world, but still, we were near the area from a Bonenkai), and we decided to check out 7even or whatever that club's name is because a mutual friend sometimes DJs there...

Got to the entrance and heard Souja Boi.

Turned around and went back to our friend's bar...

Ah ok I'm gonna post the definition here so others can see it as well.:D It was funny breaking the news to my wife what it meant too because she likes that song:D

http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=superman+a+ho
superman a ho

1.) A male does a female (ho) in the butt and pulls out in time splooge on her back. Then allows the ho to roll over and fall asleep on her back. The next morning the sheets will be stuck to her back like superman's cape. Resulting in a superman ho!

2.) it's when you skeet on a ho's back, and then the bedsheet sticks to her, making a superman-style cape.

Yeah, a friend of mine that is quite popular on this island was talking about a club that played all the good soul music from back in the day but he also said that they frown upon Americans coming in. He went in simply because he was good friends with a usual and they invited him in. You can't just walk up in there though. I'll ask him though what the name of that place was. I can't recall at this moment.

Anyways though, I made that statement about the hip hop music to my husband a couple days ago. I question why it is such a huge craze here. The big talk lately is that the Ying Yang Twins is performing at the Banyan Tree Feb.1st.

superman a ho...LMAO.

thats too funny..never heard that saying before...but that shit is ******* funny...

but seriously soulja boi is one of the gayest rapper...ever made in history...

thats why hiphop or CRAP is always getting their platnum sales and shit...

cuz lately these people these days who claim there ALL ABOUT HIPHOP, dont know how to understand metaphors.

so now rappers from the south (most) only say simple and catchy phrases..and make up dumb dances...so they get there money where people like nas, chamillionaire, and all the other rappers who rhyme cuz they like it and delivering a positive message to the industry is not getting their money since people dont understand them.

thats where hiphop is at now...using elementary rhymes..

they claim they all gangster, and they claim they on the street..but the only street they be on is on seseme street...

TRUE THOUGHT.

Real music left us a long time ago right after someone dropped a steamer in the pool of creative thought. The tone deaf tastes of moronic consumers are no longer the exception, they're the norm. The artists of today have pretty much has flipped the bitch on the music revolution and good taste.

Hey, don't sweat it. This might just be something like the 80s that we just need to somehow survive. Man, that was an awkward time for music.

Yeah, but how about the music from movies such as Top Gun and Karate Kid. You know, that whole "You're the best, woaaaaah, nothings gonna hold you down" or whatever crap. The 80s put out a lot of crap like that. :D

I suppose whats worse is that the youth (thats who drives music and trends I suppose) have little choice but to listen to "manufactured" music which most hip-hop is. There is little choice unless they look on the fringes of music.
I mean to say is look at the top 40... what is NOT studio pre-processed crap OR HIP HOP.. what happened to artists trying to make real tunes with a real message (I know it sounds corny.. but follow me here).
Even the "Rock" or "punk-esque" bands are manufactured for the masses.
What the hell is up with all this "featuring" crap...

I hate hip hop...Some of the old stuff is great however, the old snoop, ice-T, Dr Dre. It was new, it was original, it had a message (sometimes) but it was real.

This new stuff is for mindless drones and IMHO is the beginning of the downfall of society. When 15 yr old BOYs are tallking about "the ho's" that want to "get wit me", you know society is screwed.

Charts are full of one-hit-wonders, actually, these days it's more like 1 album wonders, with possibility of "featuring" on another "artists" song. Two lame ducks holding each other up backed by all the electronic magic that the record company has to offer that makes them appear to have an iota of talent.
Ohh... dont forget the video that will no doubt have at least 3 flash cars, a bunch of "ho's", cash money$$$$$ (loads of), and HUGE costume jewelery (loads of), a swimming pool with more "ho's".
Optional items are yacht, Rotweiller, Mansion, Cigars and Brandy (just to give an image of being rich!).
Even worse are Japanese "hip-hop artists"...
But thats for another Thread!!!

LoL-Thankfully they have gotten over that song here in the states. It was kinda catchy at first, but yeah, it like, got real old, real fast. But you know, there are a good number of ppl who do not know how to spell banana, so this song is really doing them a service!

You're probably right. And being that the people who listen to this crap are probably the ones who can't spell banana, Gwen is actually doing a service to society. Regardless, I still hate this song. I usually don't mind Gwen, but this song drives me nuts.

Yeah, F**k the current state of hip hop. The mainstream is watered down with all this garbage.

Okay, this may open up a can of worms...

Souljah Boy, Young Jeezy, Mike Jones--all those clowns who have successfully embodied every negative stereotype about black people are this generation's minstrels. Replace the blackface and shucking and jiving with grills and booty shaking. How many hip hop songs on the top 40 don't deal with money, misogyny, materialism, drugs, or violence? These modern-day minstrels are being mass produced by the execs and CEOs of media outlets and record labels. Why? Because this is what the audience feeds on. Why? Because this is the music that over-saturates airwaves and TV stations. Why? Because these modern-day minstrels are being mass produced by the execs and CEOs of media outlets and record labels.

Please, if you like real hip hop, stop supporting this garbage. Convince people to actually listen to the lyrics and determine if this is what they want their kids to be listening to. Call AFN and ask them to play some Talib Kweli or Common.

Positive Hip hop actually exists, but it's all underground now. You have to dig deeper to find some hip hop that is actually satisfying and fulfilling. If you have a chance, give the new Cunninlynguists album a listen. It'll restore your faith in hip hop. I speak so passionately about hip hop because I've immersed myself in the culture since the 90's. I missed out on the early stages, but it was only because I was in diapers.

P.S.
Japanese producers are some of the most talented in the game. Peep Nujabes, Shin-ski (ShinSight Trio, Martian Gang), DJ Krush
