View Full Version : Do you keep your car neat inside?

I don't. And I feel depressed everytime I get in and have to see all the crap I have in it.

It seems like the only time it gets cleared out is when I have to pick someone up from the airport or my wife's family comes, and then we take them around Okinawa. I really envy those people who can be disciplined enough to keep their car clean and neat.

I don't know. Perhaps I just look at my car as a tool, and not a point of show and pride.

Man, newspapers, books, clothes, empty pet bottles, receipts etc... just everywhere. I am ashamed of my car-keeping style. And I don't even have kids!

Now that we have a little trash can in my car, yeah, it's pretty clean. Well, aside from the carseat, stroller, umbrella, and diaper bag. But it's not nearly as messy as I used to keep my cars back when I was single. I credit all of this to my wife.

Now if only I'd keep up with washing my car.

NO!!!!!!!!
Please don't ask this question!!! :D
Please, for the love of all mankind.....you CAN'T get him started!!!

LOL

No, my van is not "clean" every time I clean it, the kids have to ride in it! LOL
Regularly throw out junk papers, shopping bags, etc that end up in there. And have the kids pull out their toys, travel games, etc. But it constantly accumulates so it's never "clean" very long.

Much like laundry......you get it all washed only to have a new basket of dirty laundry started at the end of the day.....a viscous, never ending cycle of misery!!! :)

I clean my mess out every two or three days, but depending upon when you look it is probably messy! I have a hectic schedule and often nap in my car, eat in my car, etc... So I have to be really careful to clean it up often or it gets quite messy!

Funny thing is I used to keep the inside of my car spotless! Hell I used to detail my car once a month! It looked awesome. But lately I've been lazy. It's still clean on the inside but there is some stuff in the back seat now. Like magazines, umbrellas, books, sun visors and other junk. Once the rainy season is over and I have time to clean my whole car inside and out, it will be back to normal.

I’m insane about keeping the inside of my car clean. I like to keep it washed but with the bit of rain we’ve been getting it is difficult.

My wife is a different story. She can grow rice in hers. It doesn’t bother her a bit. Drives me nuts.

I wish my car had been neat and clean inside today.

My air conditioning started making this horrible sound -- a constant deep moaning -- but it still pumped out nice cool air, and I wanted to stop at the Toyota Shop to get it looked at and fixed. But, man, there was just no way I could expect some service guy to get in there and look under the dash if they had to and be in all the crap I have in there.

Man, I have to get my car junk under control. Maybe tomorrow I will straighten it out and get the car into Toyota sometime next week. I am ashamed of my car junk habit.

I decided to split my car cleaning up into two days. Today I spent 20 mins going through old newspapers and receipts on the front and back seats. Tomorrow I will try to put in another 20 mins of cleaning up that which is still in there.

Then Weds it is off to the Toyota shop to have them take a look at the AC which has begun to make a strange sound since Saturday.

After that, I may even splurge and take my car for a wash and wax!

I try to keep the inside of my car neat, but I haven't washed the outside of my car in more than two years. The windows and mirrors get wiped when necessary though. My husband is the opposite. The inside of his car is a mess, but the outside gets cleaned.

Forgot about this thread.

Then Weds it is off to the Toyota shop to have them take a look at the AC which has begun to make a strange sound since Saturday.

They found what was making the strange noise from my air conditioner. A piece of paper (aka garbage) got sucked into the vent and was flapping on the inside -- you know like as a kid how you used to stick a baseball card in the spokes of your bicycle to get that thumpthumpthump motorcycle sound.

I was kind of embarrassed. But my car is much cleaner now.

Embarrassed about the trash in the vent or that you're so old you put baseball cards in the spokes of your bicycle? :D heeheehee.

My husband says the inside of his car isn't that bad. I had to remind him that he emptied the junk inside his car into my trunk just to pick me up from the airport, because his trunk was already full.

I've been pissed at my car situation lately. I finally got it how I wanted it. Nice new paint job, new brakes, waxed it regularly, kept it clean, white headlights, and it was (and still is) riding smoothly. Then like all good things, it didn't last. First some dumb ass hit my car in the parking lot and scraped the paint off the bumber, then a new spot of rust popped up! The guy who repainted my car said he got all the rust and it shouldn't come back. On top of that, the paint chipped and got some water under it so now I have a nice little bubble. I knew the paint job was a cheap one, but I thought it would at least last one year. Now my rear suspension is starting to go and it would be expensive as hell to replace because I have 4 struts rather then front struts and rear shocks. It still rides nice, but it makes an annoying knocking noise once you go over bumps at low speed.

Then once I was in the parking lot in my car some guy was getting into his car opened his door and the wind took it and it smacked into my car and left a small ding. I got out of my car and said "hey watch what your doing.". The dude didn't even look and me and got in his car and drove away. I hate the "I don't care about my car so your's is also insignificant" mentality that goes on over here.

To top it all off one of my neighbors said he found some japanese kids in my car one night. I always lock my doors but there is no sign of forced entry. On top of that nothing was taken. Maybe they were just fooling around or maybe they were just trying to get in but not actually in yet.

Let me put it this way: I call it the "homeless-mobile" corolla. Books, tools, car parts, receipts, various stacks of paperwork from my work, extra jackets, hats........but when I start seeing fast food bags accumulating, that's it! I go bananas and clean the hell out of it. But this is my "go to the park-n-ride" car. No one else ever drives in it. I have another nice car that I keep almost immaculate and only drive it to the gym or restaurants or to work once in a while. That way, I don't feel so bad about cruising in the "homeless-mobile" everyday.

HA! Now I don't feel so bad about not washing car in the three years. My trunk is full of stuff from my husband's car, a few things from work (which I quit last month) and car bits and pieces that my husband hasn't sorted through. The interior of my car is relatively free of trash and junk, give or take the random empty bottle or food trash. My husband's car is a disaster... heh.

I try to keep my car spotless, inside and out. With the weather being what it is, it's cleaner on the inside than out. But one of the things on my to-do list for tomorrow, is clean the outside, and vacuum the inside.

Of course, my to-do list was prepared by my wife.:(

Isn't that usually called a "honey-do" list? I make lots of those for mine. :D

The only time mine get cleaned and washed is after getting a fender-bender fixed. Fortunately it happens fairly often.

I try to keep mine clean, but I've been lazy lately. Ever since my paint started messing up again and someone hit it, I stopped caring. Still wash it, but only every other month, rather then once or twice a month like I used to. I try to keep the inside clean, but my wife likes to leave her garbage all over the place. Back in the states, it looked like my car never left the dealer lot! Once I sold it back to the dealer, the guy was amazed and said it was the cleanest car, inside and out, he has ever seen come through his dealer:D

My best buddy back home did always say he wanted to hire me to detail his cars:D

Thats funny but true.

I have 2 kids 3 and 1 so my car is not the cleanist. I have alot of stuff in there but not leftover food or anything.

you kidding? The salt in the air does horrible things to the paint jobs of cars over here.

okisteve

I think he must be kidding. But I think as long as the paint is not dinged everything stays looking pretty good. Of course it helps to hose off the salt residue every now and then.

Japanese cars are usually good for not rusting. I have a few Taiwanese bicycles that started rusting on the way home from the store. You get what you pay for. I bought a chrome carrier rack for one bike that I thought was a good price. The plating rusted through after a month and the steel beneath it is almost totally rust now.

I usually try to keep my car tidy at least once a week. as far as washing the outside once every 2 weeks. that's the crappy part about living in the towers you can't wash your car. :-|
