I can't stand Mediatti...their >6 month problem with iTunes makes me crazy. They blame Apple, but I don't believe it.
Also, their "Broadband" is super slow, compared to off-base services. I can't believe the Kadena Base Commander allows them to effectively monopolize his airmen and the other Kadena residents....:mad:
I have called Mediatti again and again about the above issues, but they always point the finger at someone else.

I don't have Mediati, but for as long as they have been servicing the military here, I have never heard one nice thing about them. They almost piss me off just because I feel sorry for all the people bitchin about them. Everyone who has an issue with them should get together and syncronize a blitz on the Commanding General's office to get the contractor to fix that fiasco. Organize, organize, organize. But, being in the military and DODs, don't forget to watch your p's and q's.
And for God's sake, don't set up a demonstration outside showing everyone the frustration they bring you or how bad they are. A man named Kokesh is in big trouble for embarrassing part of the military.
I don't think I've ever heard one good thing about Mediatti either, but then again, I've never heard a good thing about on-base internet period. It took forever just for base housing to get off dialup. It was rediculous. So this is of no surprise to me.

Mediatti is not the only choice, there are many places on base that could use other options, but people like the easy way and go with mediatti. I'm sorry for them too, but they could always move off base right?

Once I was in the dorms I used to have mediatti. It was some horrible internet service. But I did like the tv service!
Oh and the fact that everyone in the dorm was on P2P downloading stuff or playing online games didn't help the bandwidth problem. I hate bandwidth hogs.

Don't forget that Mediatti not only services Kadena but every military installation on this island.
First I gotta say I love their cable. I have no issues there.
As far as the internet goes, it sucks. I have a friend who recently PCSed out who got the same run around that guys are talking about. Trying to use ITUNES and they said its on their end thats not functioning properly. So he contacted them and they pinged his computer to see if their was a problem on their end. Bottom line, it's broke at the Mediatti end. So my friend actually sat down with one of the people who oversee the service they provide. I don't know remember the name of the representative but I know he's a retired Marine. My friend vented about his frustration with ITUNES not working correctly and basically said your making young military members pay for a service you can not provide. The guy agreed with him!
The problem is there is no competition for Mediatti. If there were they would be out of buisness.

What you say is true, but things are better now than when MCCS had the monopoly! Some of the bases used to be able to go out in town and use the sattelite service provided by...damn can't recall the name...but it worked on parts of Foster, Courtney, Kadena and Schwab...but not all bases. Let me see if I can remember their name and see if they still offer services.

If anyone can find a better alternative for Kadena ... please post here. And, if the Wing Commander is listening ... please promote competition! We Kadena residents deserve better!!!

I got a pleasent surprise today, after coming home from work.. My cable was disconnected. They didn't bill my credit card on the 4th of January like they had agreed to. I had set up with Mediatti to bill my credit card automatically on the 4th of every month. But they had failed to do their part, and then disconnected my cable for a past due payment..:scared: only two weeks past due..
It gets better.. I talked to mediatti, and they insisted that theyre where no errors on there part.. I would still have to pay the 15$ fee past due payment, 35$ recconect fee and 12$ internet reconnect fee.. Hmphh:cursing:. $&#&# #&*@*#B B &*#@( Mediattii..uggh. Plus my regular 79$ package.. It all comes to 141$..
Yah, maybe I should of kept an eye on my bank stement, and saw they didn't automatically bill me, like they said they would, and have been doing for the last 6 months. Its just so frustrating.. I am done with mediatti.. I don't care, about there god damn crummy expense cable service any more.. Close my account ****ers. I can live without TV.. I'll just have find anothe Internet service.. At least I can still get free AFN and local TV..
Screw you mediatti..:mad:

If you live on Kadena that is the only internet that you can get. I have tried every internet spot on island and unless you ahve a letter from the CG on Kadena you are not allowed to get any other type of internet service. I submitted a letter and it was rejected.

We had enough with whatever was offered on the base. So we went out gate 2 about a block down on the left was the computer store. At the time they only had towers that could service military housing on the outside perimeter of the base. But had plans to do more. It worked great for us!

I thought we had to get something signed by housing-
clearing them to put the receiver on the house or something along those lines though.
I dunno, been several years. I could easily be mistaken.

I wonder what the actual reason is for their poor service though. Is it really management, being under-staffed, under-funded, red tape, what? They've been in business long enough that you'd think they'd eventually get it right.

Just give it some time, there is something coming around the corner that might help all you helpless Kadena people. Send me a PM if you want to know more, but I don't want to promote the company on the forum... I think that there is something against that sort of thing.

When we lived on Foster we went through all the extra trouble and cost to get ADSL service from NTT. We just had to pay for the extra phone line needed. It was well worth it and we loved it. Never one single problem with the service itself. Great customer service even with the language barrier at times.
When we moved to Lester we were not able to continue with the service.:(
This was when we just went with Mediatti and have dealt with their crappy service since.
I remember there used to be a place off base that offered wireless, but you had to live in certain areas to pick up the signal and even then there was no guarantee.
I wouldn't go to all the trouble and cost to move off base just for better internet service, LOL.

I just think that they could at least provide good customer service. It seems like when you call them and they finally come out for any reason they act like you are the problem and not the service. The problem is they are not pushing enough bandwidth (Not sure if spelled right) through for each customer. I think they should have package deals where if you want more you pay more like alot of other services provide, but they have to start by giving you something and half the time the internet doesn't work anyways.

I thought that internet was slow depending on how many people were on at one time. Is this true?
