I seem to remember him saying he was going to be off the air for a while,
but when is he coming back? Man, the morning show is just not the same and I have a request for him...

The call to the farm has gotten lame now. Usually the last 5 minutes in the hour and then they play all three in a row. WTF? Bring Sammy back!

You all never knew you had it so good with Samy. He was responsive to the forum.

But, the new guys aren't bad either.

Samy has been moved from radio to TV. He won't be back.

What! Are you serious?

Well, I guess I'll be sticking to cd's and fm87.3 on the morning drive to work!

I used to live in a part of Japan for several years where I had no regular radio or English programing from native speakers. Since then, my criticism of English content in radio and tv media is almost nonexistant. I am very appreciative of whatever AFN offers, you could say.

Minor shortfallings of a few spots here and there of AFN are easily overlooked by me.

Well I lived in a part of Japan for seven years where there was also no programming with native speaking dj's, I just listened in Japanese or some bi-lingual shows.

I am sure there is not that much wrong with the content of the morning show, it could be just the same as it was for all I know. I just don't like his voice as much, a DJ is all about his/her voice. I especially hate listening to female dj's though, they should all sound like John Kabira:)

Well,

I figured I would give you all a quick update about my life.

I finished up my morning show gig in October after being voted the best deejay by the listeners here in Okinawa. I worked under the "Janitor"- Otherwise known as Gunnery Sergeant Jimmy Stare for about 4 months. I'll have to say, there may not have been a time when I actually liked the military more than when that guy was my boss. Great dude.

Then I got out of the military and now work for MCCS Broadcasting on Camp Foster. I have a weekly television show, it's called the MCCS Reports (which is also a radio report as well) and I also have a lot of projects in the works. One of them is called "Samy on the Street" and we have other shows being put through production right now. I work with a great team and have a beard. What can I say, life is great.

Additionally, since my time at AFN, I have also become a father of a beautiful daughter who is almost 2 weeks old. Her name is Sophia.

So if you were wondering, "Where is Samy Fineman?" just give me a call at MCCS Broadcasting so we can catch up,

Hope you are all well,

Samy Fineman

I wouldn't say that. We both have good jobs. MCCS is a great employer. As a matter of fact, I would recommend this company to anyone looking for a job. There are some great benefits through this place. MCCS pays for not only college classes, but also books, they have a sweet retirement/401k plan, and the best is that while my job can be taxing, when I want to leave, I punch a clock and come back the next day.

In all, I have to say that it's nice to have my life back,

Samy

Sweet glad it is working out for you :thumbup1: it is a blast being over here ca few years short of 2 decades and I am still loving it. I will start loving it even more after this coming Monday :w00t:

Glad that you like it Samy, but I have to guess that the main reason you love MCCS so much is because you can only compare it to the military. They do have great education benefits though!

Yeah,

I'm sure you do love it more after that Monday.

I saw silviasichigo today at the PO. To say the least, the dude makes a sweet paycheck,

Samy

IslandFever--

I may be a little recruiter-"ish", but it's a great gig. The education benefits are even better than the military. I don't even pay for books,

Who can argue with that?

I hear ya, bro. I work for MCCS too...... I just wish there were more opportunities for advancement, and that the pay was a little more competitive....

Where do you work within the company? After reading your posts about Todd Hunter, were you in my NEO?
