What is the point? I'm sorry, I don't get it. Is it just funny because they are handicapped?

Are they crippled American soldiers from the Iraq War showing off what new technology/therapy has now allowed them to do -- be productive members of society with their injuries?

Someone has comprehension probs to think these guys are american vets.

DocTurtle

lol, I think they are German actually. Either way, it's just fun to watch. Not so much that they are in wheelchairs, but the fact that they can laugh at them selves along with others. They aren't, oh pity me because of how I am, they are "hey laugh with me cause I know what I'm doing is funny, and if you are just laughing at me, who cares? As long as you are laughing"

lol.

Well, let's hope some crippled vets will copy their act to show us what technology can do for their missing limbs so that we can laugh with them or at them. Either or, so long as we are laughing.

I sincerely hope you don't play the part of the American crippled vet or plain old cripple to copy the act in your wet dream. I wouldn't laugh at you because it wouldn't be funny the way you state it.

Always have to turn everything into something anti-american don't you? I'd call you an ass but then you'd start whining. So instead, I'll beat around the bush and say your acting like an ass.

Oh, I see. It would not be funny if they were crippled vets, or to suggest that we could laugh at them if they were to follow in these guys' footsteps.

Nice to know that there is an untouchable subset of handicapped people that are protected from laughing at.

Where did I say it was funny in the first place? Maybe I should now question your reading abilities to further insult your intelligence? Why do you continue to put words in my mouth like you always do? Or do you just have a knack for jumping to conclusions?

Guess the whining is inevitable.

They are essentially doin a Weird Al style renditions of these songs.
We all laugh at what Weird Al puts out.....so purely because they are in wheelchairs we can't find the humor in their spoof rendition of songs?

You know, all the people I have met that are special needs that have mental capacity to carry on conversations & verbally communicate are usually freakin HILARIOUS!
They also appreciate people that care to look at them as people and not just give them pity and look away when they see the wheelchair coming.

This wasn't a cheap shot by a regular person at physically or mentally handicapped person. This was physically or mentally handicapped person attempting to spoof mainstream music for the factor of entertainment.

Did you miss the last comic standing guy? Should we not laugh at him either, since he has a handicap? Doesn't matter that he has taken on the stream of entertainment media- bottom line he is disabled and it is discriminatory for us to laugh?[Josh Blue (http://youtube.com/watch?v=qMSrpZi_6WM)

Then why this peculiar thread title if the issue of handicapp is not a part of it -- plus the cheeky replies referring to hell for their seeing humor in it? Obviously the "hell" part is aimed at disarming the part about finding humor in their handicap as well -- for no one seems to feel "humorously" that they are going to hell for laughing at Weird Al's humourous takes on popular songs.

The guys were singing in German so after a few seconds, I stopped watching. Don't know if the parts after that were "funny".

Here's a funny one.

Sub-Sahara, Africa. We had a few days off and drove up towards Burkina Faso (Upper Volta). Looking down the hillcrest, we saw a village by the river.

We could see a small boy leading a group of about a dozen young men, each following the other with a small stick. The boy would run up, down, zigzag, scamper and jump over obstacles on ground, they'd run or walk along with him wherever he went. It was so comical.

We drove our vehicles down to the village. This was my first time this far north.

Turns out the larvae of the Black Simulium Fly incubates for 12 years or so, then eats out eyes causing River Blindness.

The boy-guide scene was typical in these parts. I had close up looks of eaten eyes. I'm not a medical doctor. It was awful.

That day I vowed never ever to laugh at someone else's misfortune.

The thread was more of a joke as well, bro. Everyone feels that it's taboo to laugh at the handicapped or and people making dead baby jokes or stuff like that. It's just a spin on it, ok? Don't look too far into it bro, it just all in good fun :)

If one chooses to put themselves in front of the world on stage they have already made a decision to be judged by the audience. If they do not wish to be laughed at and or adored which ever the case maybe it is really simple don't get on the stage. Or am I understanding you incorrectly that we should just support them and applaud them because they are handicapped?

What if it came out that these persons were not handicapped at all, and in fact normal people acting handicapped making fun of the handicapped? Would that make any difference? Or like say me making myself look black and then doing a routine dogging on black people?

Looking back on my posts in this thread, I don't think I ever said their routine was wrong, did I? I think I proffered the thought or questioned about reactions for disabled vets doing the same thing, or hoping that they, too, would be so brave to follow in these guys' footprints. The reaction to that showed that some people have a knee-jerk refexive action for defensiveness when the topic hits a little closer to home on a more personal note.

It's obvious it does, and the reactions bear that out.

The lead singer of Boys on Wheels is Jesper Odelberg and he has cerebral palsy. He is a comedian and has been for the last 15yrs or so. He and 2 friends formed boys on wheels last yr.

In the video clip the first song is in Norwegian or Swedish.

No, you obviously are putting words in my mouth to try and make things look in your favor. I never said it was funny, but I never said it was not ok to laugh at it. I was giving you shit because you turned it into something poking fun at military (veterans in this situation) then put words in my mouth to make it sound like I was saying "you can laugh at handicapped people, but not handicap veterans". So, how are you right? All I did was make a simple observation. The way you constantly look down on people is really sad. After reading your posts I often find myself wondering "does he have any real friends?"
