I'm only familiar with 7th Heaven just off Gate 2 street on rte 330. They have a long and strong history of excellent metal music and live bands. I believe Murasaki is part of their esteemed history, and 8 Ball is part of their current (on again, off again) line up. I've been a few times and enjoyed it. It's around the corner from the bank at the intersection.

Does George Higa from Murasaki, and his son in 8 Ball, own 7th Heaven?

Last I heard, Ray took care of 7th Heaven. Although that was a couple years ago, I don't see why that would've changed.

Fujiyama's (http://www.myspace.com/clubfujiokinawa)is a good place for punk music. It's next to the parking lot on Gate 2 street. The best event on island is the Peace, Love Rock concert in July. Bands from all over Japan play in it. Locally, you could try club K-mind in Urasoe(?) up above MCAS Futenma. Vaidurya (http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendID=1000309801) is a local band that I've heard is good, but I've never heard them personally.

Funny, I've been to Fujiyama's a few times and never heard punk music. They normally just have a cover band that plays just about the same songs everynight. Not a bad place though, I like it.

That's too bad. The coverband at Fujiyama's used to do pretty good punk stuff. Once in a while, they threw in some Goth or other off mainstream songs. Then again, that was a couple years back with Pavlov's Dogs. They used to do FujiFest also, where they had lots of local bands playing various rock music in a night. Admittedly, I haven't really been out there much for a year.

I've only been there a few times (three or four) but each time it was the same cover band. They had a few different songs, but most of them were the same as the time before. Some slipknot, killswitch engage, nirvana, STP, stuff like that.

Yea, Fuji's is good. I also like the Garage. I'm a sucker for live bands though.

Yup the small live band/cover band seen in Koza is about the best you're going to get if you like Punk and Metal. There's a lot of "older" rock being played. Can't believe they're calling it classic rock now. Music wise most places are usually playing Hip Hop and Reggae these days. Rock has been on the down slope for sometime. :(
