SPAM musubi... I grew up eating SPAM, but avoided it during high school. In college, it was a better alternative to ramen. We didn't have all the microwavable yummies available now back then. I had mostly Hawaiian friends, so we had the whole electric skillet and rice cooker thing going.
As for bologna (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bologna_sausage), I ate it all the time for lunch as a kid by choice. I'd throw a slice of bologna and a slice of cheese between a couple slices of bread with the crusts cut off and nuke it. I haven't eaten bologna since I was twelve... I don't see me eating it again any time soon either.

Bologna is the American version of the Italian sausage first manufactured in, you guessed it, Bologna, Italia.
Americanized pronunications of foreign words turn up everywhere in our lexicon. For example, the city of Busan, earlier pronounced Pusan, had been rendered with a "P" because Americans fighting during the Korean War thought that the "bi-up" sounded closer to a Roman "p." Since the Korean "bi-up" sounds a bit like a very light "p," we've tended to pronounce the name of the city with an initial "P." Other similar examples abound.
Likewise, we've Americanized the name of the Italian city from where the famous sausage comes. We've maintained the spelling, but altered the pronunciation.
The tendency to fit foreign words easily into the venacular of a particular native tougue turns up everywhere. Think about what happens in Japan when the Japanese render the American invented device we call a television into Japanese pronunciation - "tele-bee."

Let's not even begin to discuss the differences in pronunciation of words here in Japan.
