half of 30 is 15...but adding 10 to that would be 25 and that's just too easy...
Ohhhhh....dang...I think the answer is 12...
DocTurtle
10-19-2007, 04:01 PM
As for the other one...you can cut as many as you can since you only know how long the loaf is and not any other dimensions?

How about 15?
I broke out the pen and paper for that answer :p
2 slices/3cm = X slices/22.5 cm
3X=2 x 22.5
3X=45
X=3/45
X=15

you will have to explain this one, because i broke out the pen and paper, and you get 14 slices exactly 1.5 cm wide, and 0.5 cm piece left over. It must be a play of words which Im not catching.

I could have done my math wrong...but I figured that 1 slice is 1.5cm and 2 slices= 3cm since 1.5+1.5 = 3.
I think there is a play of words too...hmmmm....

Number Four;
Exactly how many slices of 1.5 cm each can you cut from a whole loaf of bread which is 22.5 cm long?
ONE cause once you cut it it isn't a WHOLE loaf any more?
DocTurtle

Ohhhh!! You win!! Nice catch!

yep, all but that last one which you figured out, good call...I knew it was a play of words, I just didnt see it:)
Edited to add:
Actually the answer is 14. The question is how many CAN you cut. If I had a bread cutting machine, I CAN cut 14. Since they are cut at the same time, it would be a whole loaf....then 14 slices. (just being a smartass:))
ONE cause once you cut it it isn't a WHOLE loaf any more?
:thumbup::thumbup::thumbup:
That's it. You guys went quick on this one today, I am going to have to think of a few others over the weekend to see if I can stump this crowd.
Thanks for playing:first:
