Ok, let me get this out of the way first; I drive fast. Sorry, hate me if you must but there it is.
When I am on the expressway I expect to make better time than on the surface roads. Even if I obeyed the speed limit that would still be possible except there seem to be a great quantity of people who fail to understand the concept that the right lane is for passing! Get around, get the hell back in the left lane you tard! Not many things are as deliciously frustrating as being stuck behind two cars pacing each other side-by-side. :cursing:
If you are going to go the same speed as him do it in front or behind him, not next to him moron! Then if by some rare chance the guy in the right lane is going 80.5 kph and after ten minutes finally completes the pass does he get over? Hell no, why would he do that? I find myself forced to pass on the left which is not one's first choice. I wonder if the guy will suddenly have an apiphony and swerve to the left when I am next to him. were it a Y plate I could understand, understand, not condone of course. Y-plate permits are patheticaly easy to get and most make no attempt to aclimatize to local driving customs. Most of the time it's a J-plate though, WTF?
It's not hard, heck the signs are bi-lingual! Unless you don't read Japanese or English there is no reason to not know this. Even as fast as I go as soon as a large open space to the left opens up I get over. Nobody is ever coming from behind me at a speed that requires me to do so but I do it anyway. It has gotten so I drive with my high beams on during the day because it takes people 2 minutes before I get to them for the "oh I am in the passing lane, I should move over" train to pull out of the station. I find it rediculous to need to use third gear on the expressway. :(

This is a common problem nation wide, and on the local byways as well as the highways. People tend to get in the lane that is on the side they intend to turn or exit to, regardless of how early they are in the journey. If they intend to exit at an interchange or turn right at some point, they will go right and stay right their entire trip. Same goes for when they turn onto the road from a side road. The don't complete the turn in the lane they started from, but swing into whatever lane they want to be in, rather than merging later, after the turn has been completed. Rather mystifying behavior.

The turning issue gets to me as well. Coming from Awase golf course down the hill towards gate 5 is the worst. BOTH lanes can be right turn lanes (arrows are painted on for your convienence), but the guy in the right lane almost always turns right and slips on over into the left lane where I am. THEN starts getting pissed when he almost hits me, like I'm the ignorant one.

Ya alot of locals are so stupid coming from the jusco in mihama and when your leaving gate one on lester they all want the far lane instead of using the other two in front of their face.

Yea, we almost got hit last night. Some local was weaving back and forst between traffic trying to get ahead. They got out of our lane and into the next one and about a min later they tried to get back in our lane. They didn't signal, just swerved until they saw us at the last second and went back. Crazy drivers :cursing:

Wait, that is not possible. According to a certain person on the internet only Y plates do that on "his island".

I just recently look at this "Y plate hater" site, and am confused. This guy has been on Okinawa 12-13 years I take it, and apparently has some type of anger/frustration issues? I'm not qualified to make a medical assesment of mental health, but this kid seems to project alot of hostility in his rants. I'm guessing he may of fell short on some type of authority training or job, because his cute "write-ups" read somewhat like a blotter report.
He goes to say he speeds when he is checking out his vehicle, but he knows where and when to. He justifies it in his own mind apparently..and sets himself up on a pedestal above his own complaints.
Seems he's angry at having to pay higher tax rates, and begrudges the fact he had to attend more difficult training? Boo Hoo....:crying:

yeah, road rage doesn't give you a get away free pass to drive like an asshole. I bet your a tailgater huh? I'll admit that I get frustrated, but there is nothing I can do about it, so get off my ass and stop tailgating:D. After all, if the traffic is really bad, then tailgating is not going to get you around me faster, it just makes me want to give you a nice brake check.

I try very hard to keep my cool. I have a terrible temper and I can't allow that snowball to start. You never know who you are dealing with and if you get into a contest of rage somebody is going to go too far and possibly get innocents involved. I am fully capable of running someone off the road, getting out and finishing them off personally if I go red so I have to let stuff slide. When it comes down to it, if I am stuck, I try to just chill, it isn't worth injuring or killing someone, no matter how much they might be asking for it.

I like agressive drivers better then confused drivers actually. An agressive driver is very one dimensional and you can tell almost immediately who they are and for the most part they move in a very predictable manner. Sure they cut you off but you knew they were going to and were somewhat ready so not quite as dangerous as the other type.
These are the people that miss their turn and cut across two lanes of traffic to catch it. No blinker, no looking, just bang, there they go. You have no way to know it's coming. The ones that start to pull out and you slow down then they stop half into the street, you start to go again and then they go some more and so on until you get rear-ended. those people IMO are more dangerous than the agressive types because with such inconsistent behavior they are always going to suprize you. Suprize when navigating a ton of steel at any speed is not good.

I have had issues with both americans and japanese drivers.. at the fore mentioned intersection near Gate 5 Kadena where two lanes can turn right I had an american cut me off when he went from the righthand lane into my lane during the turn. He then proceded to brake check me or ride my ass all the way to kadena.

Another time I was driving northbound in the lefthand lane on 330(Urasoe area) when a japanese driven van(big one) came up my ass real fast. Well I pulled into the righthand lane and slowed down some. He then cut me off and proceded to try and squeez between two cars in both lanes. He taged the rear end of one(in front of me) and caused him to hit the 3 foot high medium in the middle of 330. The other he tagged in the front and pushed off the road.. unfortunatly there was a scooter in front of that car. In all at least 4 cars and 1 scooter got messed up. Luckly I forsaw that that could happen so I had slowed way down.

OK im not a tailgater... i have people who repeatedly try and get on my ass only to scare me, and slow down, so im a bitch on the road... i cant help it i saw the way my dad drove and kind of picked up on it, and im not saying that thats a good thing...but i have road rage, its gotten a lot better since i drive expressway every day, because its smooth sailing once you get on the sucker... but... there is always that one driver that wants to be an asshole, and ride your ass... im not that person, my foot eye coordination isnt that quick... i can slam on my breaks, but i have to have a good distance between me and the person in front of me...

tail gating is OUT of the question... i cant slam on my brakes that quick... but i do brake check a lot of people... ride my ass tailgate me... and in the passing lane i will do 80.5 normally though i go around 100-120kmph so... there is no reason to tail gate me ...
