I am looking for a gown to buy, but I am not sure where to go out in town. I know a lot of you are married to locals, so if you could ask your wives, or if you know, I would really appreciate it.
Also, I have no clue what size I need to buy!!! Does anyone know what an eight (tall) in American would be here????
Thanks in advance for your help:o

I would help if I could, don't where all the other women on this forum have gone?
But a gown, do you mean a dress? What kind are you looking for, is it for some special occasion? I could find out the size in japanese, but it is really hard to find for tall people here, as I am quite tall, as far as japanese standards go.
I don't wear dresses so I can't really help, but there were quite a few suggestions a while back if you look under a thread 'clothes' I think it was.
Main San-A in Shin-toshin(Naha) and Ryubo Dept. down near Kokusai street.
Wouldn't waste your time in Jusco and other San-A's though as they just don't have much choice in clothes for tall people, everything is small:(

LOL p-chan /stang :D
Anyhow, around this time of year, the fancy dress store sets up shop at the Foster concession mall for those folks who need normal size formal wear. If you can only shop off base for a formal dress, there are places. Uhm... You'd be hard-pressed to find something in a TALL of any size though. A US size 8 can range from a JP size 9-15 depending on what parts are curvy. I found some nice dresses at Jusco, but not formals. Personally, I'd avoid the dress shops on/around Gate 2 street, unless you like the prostitute look.
