JU Meet North or South? (http://www.japanupdate.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1679&page=4)

I didnt want to clutter up the other thread linked above here with a poll and since many people have already put their comments on that thread I am starting a new thread here with a poll to get a better idea of the number of people that are actually going to attend.

As time gets closer we will need to make reservations for a large group, so we need to know.

If your plans change and you can not attend, or the reverse you voted no and you can join the fun, then please make a post on this thread only to keep confusion down.

Please dont clutter this thread up with unecessary posts or comments, put those on the thread linked above. Also if you have any questions please put them on the link above as well.
Thanks:D

What should we do if we have more than one person coming in a party? I am having my wife attend with me, but I can't vote more than once?

Great question! How about voting "Yes" for you and then adding a post saying PlusXX persons?

Do you think that will work or should I add poll options?

I was going to do this ten days prior to the event and again a few days prior just to make sure before I make the reservation, but this'll work for giving a general idea. Thanks. :)

If you're bring more than yourself, just put "Me + # people" or something like that in your post.

I don't think so. I'm pretty sure it has to do with scheduling. Sometimes you plan on doing something in advance, and at the last moment something pops up out of nowhere, and you'll have to change your plans.

Also, since this is a get-together out in a public place, if someone shows up with an attitude towards another poster, they'll get ejected from the premises rather quickly. If not by the Security folks working at the establishment, then certainly by one of us.

Just guessing, but I'm sure that everyone who posts within the "New Forums" are welcome, even T.P. No harm will come to anyone physically, though some ego's may take a bruising. Just the price that you have to pay if you're a poster.

But for the most part, it's all about finally meeting the people that you are conversing with on-line. It should be a fun event, and if you can make it, please come.

I'm sure this is a reason for some. But like I said in a previous post, you really shouldn't let that stop you. I remember a get together we had back on the old forums one time, and there was this one particular poster (I believe he went by the name "TattleTale," who rarely saw eye to eye with me. But he showed up and we actually got a long really well in person. People just need to leave the arguments for the forum and have a good time when everyone is together in real life!

I agree whole heartedly, I only made that comment to appeal to people that might feel like there could be a problem to understand that everyone is welcome....also I dont know why but I was thinking that I just wrote what some might be thinking too.:D

However indirectly the decision does have something to do with events here and things that I have learned about some members here over the past few days. They have brought into my mind questions about what level of participation that I want to have here on JU.

I originally had plans on that day for something else and cancelled them, yet am now debating on which to attend.

I apologize and do not wish for that to be an influence on whether or not anyone else attends or doesnt attend. This is my decision.

I thought it would be a good idea to share a cold one with new JU friends.

I agree with you Ja, I've just finished reading through the entire thread in question. While both of the parties displayed some childish behavior , I really don't think that this issue is severe enough for him to cancel out on the meet. After all, he was the lead, and I don't feel that this incident would have a negative impact, in regards to the general atmosphere of the planned event.

Personally, I hope that he does show up. Not sure if I'll be able to attend. The event is still 4 weeks out, and life plays funny tricks on you sometimes. But if at all possible, I'll be there.:D

Yes it was me, I suggested the date with the full intention of cancelling the other "thing" I had scheduled for that date, mostly because I wanted an excuse not to go to it.

Things on that end have had some changes, as well as this side too. So now I guess I am about 50/50 on both as of right now.

... have some drinks!
Fine! just throw that I can't drink back at me. :sniff: You men are so insensitive to our sacrifices. :crying: Maybe I'm protecting y'all from my fluctuating rage and desire for desserts. Maybe, just maybe, I don't have anything nice to wear, because I've gotten so huge that nothing fits me anymore. :inserthystericshere: Okay, have to pee again... will continue pregnant hystrionics later. ;)

Just how many of you ARE pregnant? Yes, please, you all stay at home, or go out and order beer and pastry. :) I don't want to catch it!

As far as the big belly part, a lot of men think you pregnant gals look sexy that way. Then there's that glowing face thing. You only "feel" fat and dumpy. Trust me. Everyone understands. :thumbup1:

Again with the taunting! Okay, beer and pastry just sounds disgusting. I don't see that on any combo menu any time soon. Heh. :p

I'm still saying that we aren't going right now. We might get an itch to be social the afternoon of the event too. Then again, that involves actually leaving the house... clean. "Make me an offer I can't refuse." (Yes, you must aurally imagine a bad impression of Brando's Godfather.)

"Make me an offer I can't refuse."

You can come out and see how old and crotchety I really am. If you are nice, I will get up repeatedly and load plates up with pizza and stuff for you. That's about all I can offer though. After all, this isn't the E Club! <3

Talk about your beer bellies! Those women are a little too European looking for my taste. But I suppose if they were the last women on earth, I would drink their beer.

So who is going? It's coming up this saturday already? I'm still planning on going, unless something comes up. It really depends on what kind of mood the wife is in that day.

So lets see a show of hands! Who is going, who isn't, and who is and A type and still can't make up their minds:D

Let's make a new poll sometime today. Anyone can do this if they want to help me out. Make it an open poll so we can see the results. Muku sent me a PM yesterday asking if he should make reservations or if I wanted to. If possible, if he can do that it'd help me out as I've got a lot of work ahead of me this week and I'd hate to forget...

If you make reservations, consider reserving the outside patio. That way, smokers can do so without bothering non-smokers. The weather isn't so cold right now to make eating/drinking outside uncomfortable. You also don't have to give a specific number of attendees for the reservation, as there is usually only one large party on the patio.

I'll make that poll now.

I just want to say that all of you suck, and I hate you all! Ok, not really, just wish I could attend the get together as well. Wouldn't mind putting a few away with some of the new (Well new since the old forums...hence why their new...) members.

I won't be making it. We're going out for some nice birthday Kobe Steak, then off to a bar where my friend is having a going-away/my birthday party.

So are you planning to show up as well?

I for one would hope so.

Oh btw knowing your dislike for polls and such, it would be helpful to know ahead of time for reservation purposes. Thank you

Isn't brining the first stage in the pickling process?
