View Full Version : Reset arcade scores every month?
Should we reset arcade scores every month? Yes or no? And give a good reason. This poll will last 10 days.

I voted yes...but only if you(we) create a "hall of fame" so that old players get credit for their scores. I mean if you scored an unbelievable score, then it was wiped out, I could see someone being a bit peeved. I think that we could probably create a sticky in the Arcade forum, and keep it closed to posting...then update it each month before resetting the scores. We'd keep the all time high scores there.
(nice to see you figured out the public polls!)

I can see both ways.
It keeps it fresh and keeps things switched up
Keeps some excitement going with possibility of smack talkin and competition.
on the other hand like I mentioned on the other thread....if you stuck it out and finally had a kick ass game that landed you first place and then it was deleted you would likely be ticked.
Why bother to try and "beat" a current high score, just wait till the end of the month and get it when it is reset.

I just like it when people get all fired up about their high scores getting crushed... I hardly do the crushing but it's still good Christian fun
Yeah, I can see how the high scores will become less valuable, but really, what's it matter. They're just fun badges. :D I'm sure the people who own the leaderboard now will just turn around and whoop the crap out of the rest of us anyway.
But yes, I like DocP's idea about a hall of fame sticky.
(Oh, and DocP, public polls were always available. It's just a checkbox nobody was clicking...)

He has some good ideas, I think the sticky hall of fame is a pretty good one.

I like the idea hall of fame sticky. I don't mind the scores being reset, since I can't beat my high scores.

:shrug: I think it'd give some of the newer members a chance to have fun while posting to the forums. It may also bring some older members who like to play the games back to posting on the forums a bit more.

The hall of fame would show the overall high score for that game. So legacy scores would be good...until they are beaten by someone else. It is possible for someone to remain in the hall of fame indefinitely...or to be knocked out of it at the end of the month...if their score has been beaten.
Did that clear anything up at all? :(

The hall of fame would be created using the current high scores (before the reset begins)...so any scores that you hold now, you would be listed in the HOF until someone beats it.

Eh, I cheated. If I feel like playing a game but don't feel like posting, you can usually do a search on google and find it on another game website to play it on. :cool:

the only thing I wonder is why we have to post 5 posts before we can even play? you go to yahoo, you just press a button and play. And it's all free. :thumbdown: I like to play games alot online. I have real arcade and pokerstars.com when I wanna play texas hold'em. it's fun.and you can get in on tournaments that you can win millions on. no joke. but you have to download the program first. :w00t::w00t::w00t::army::army::army:

Yes there will. So I won't be resetting scores until I have time to make that hall of fame. It'll be a little while. Pretty sure it'll be done by the end of the month. Maybe even exactly on 10/31.

Yeah, cause the sooner he resets the less time anyone has to pick you off the official score board and the more titles you will have to start the hall of fame off with. :D

i dont have enough time in the day to play games to get the high scores. i have to spread my game playing out between here, freeonlingames.com, addictinggames.com etc.. dont want one site to get jealous.

i tried playing some games but it says i need to post extra post per day. now exactly how much post do i need to play games?
5 posts per day. The day resets at 4pm Okinawa time as our server is in the states, so if you post 5 messages before 4pm and try to play games after 4pm, you'll need to post 5 more messages.

dk that was a low blow on taking my throw me score like that, especially since the comp gave me first place knowing madhatter score was a fluck and him stating he did not even finish the level.
I took your throw me score? O.O
I clicked a button to refresh scores, but I didn't realize it jacked up your score... I was just doing some forum improvements and was dinking around in the arcade at the time... It wasn't intentional.
To be fair, I'll put both you and MH on the list for this month for throw me. Yours as lead for completing, and his w/ screenshot just to show what can be done.

High score sticky has been placed in the arcade category of the forums. All scores have been reset. Enjoy! :D
