Born in munster indiana and lived and raised in hammond, indiana (HMD). I'm here in okinawa right now, and I'd rather live here then crappy ass hammond.

Oh and hammond indiana is on the indiana illinois border. The south side of chicago is about 10 minutes west and gary indiana (where michael jackson is from!) is about 10 minutes east. So if your wondering, yes I live between two ghettos!

Born in South Gate, CA...a blue collar suburb of L.A. Now living in "B.F.E." Hesperia, CA. (near the now-closed George AFB) It's the high desert @ 3500 feet. We get snow in the winter and 105 in the summer. Usually less than 20% humidity. When my wife's family comes to visit from Okinawa, they really trip out, because of the drastic change in humidity.

So far the economy is slightly improving. I know with the military buildup, the economy should start to pick up. a lot of locals are just stubborn and ignorant when it comes to the island. they don't know what's good for them. its somewhat sad for me to say that but me being born and raised i see how they are. i'm sure once the marines are fully relocated there they should see lots of money comming in. and hopefully me and my husband can get station there.

Augustfest really started to blow in it's later years. I still remember once it used to be fun once I was around 8 years old. I just remember being a teenager and other teenagers liked to go to the Augustfest and start fights.

It's ok though, now we have the whiting fest to make up for it.

i was born in mexico. my parents put me in a basket when I was an infant and swam across the river. They sold both thier wedding rings to get money to meet up with a coyote and paid him to take them the rest of the way to a factory in Santee where they both got jobs making rubber clown noses for like 50 cents and hour. After saving up for about 6 years they enrolled me in a catholic school that had very strict nuns and one them hit me upside the head with a ruler once. oh and the cafeteria food was terrible. one day my mom bought a lottery ticket and it turned out to be a winner. the money she won wasn't in the millions or anything but lets just say she isn't working at that rubber nose factory anymore.

Went to tech school at Lowery 1992 (PMEL). I was stationed at Buckley for 6 years, Jan 98 to Sep 2003. Loved it. My wife did as well. She's from Okinawa and wants to go back once I retire from AF. Me too. Loved it. Great place, lots to do.

Yeah, when we first arrived we would drive to the AFA to shop the commissary. We were very happy when Buckley's opened. We left in Sept 03 and the gym wasn't opened yet.

I worked in the 2 SWS. During 9/11 I was my office. We were sent home and didn't go back until the following Monday.

I was born in Hawthorne, CA. I grew up in Hawthorne and Redondo Beach, CA, and now I live in Torrance, CA. I've lived in a few places outside of the Corps, Bend Oregon being one of my favorites. Out of all the places that I've been, Okinawa and Guam have been the best.

Hey Brett23iu - and all of you other folks from Indiana... I spent some summers back there on my uncle's farm outside of a small town called Leiter's Ford (spelling may be incorrect). I had some of the best times of my life there, and I've never met anyone from Indiana who knows where it is (not that I do, either).

I went to high School in Roanoke, VA, I Always considered Winston Salem home and hope to retire either there or in Greensboro. I miss Hanes mall/tanglewood park/Carowinds/Imerald point bah I just miss NC :thumbup1: I'm the only duke fan in my family and I catch hell about it quite often

Born in NC but have had 79 mailing addresses in nearly 68 years. Stationed at Naha AB from Dec 1960 until end of July 1962, with 51st A&E, flight simulator shop. Was in USAF until early 1968 (8 years). 30 years as technician or engineer and retired from U.S. Naval Observatory in May 2001. Now a couch potato in central Florida waiting for the end.

You were my old neighbor then being from Yorktown. I lived on Denbigh blvd, in Colony Pines right next to Yorktown.
