Man, I think I have been out of my exercise routine for the last 8 months and having a hard time to get back into it. I'll start, then get off it real quick again. Being off it so long gives me that blah sluggish feeling.

What do you guys do to get yourself back into a routine once you've fallen out of it for a while? I kinda think it is just a matter of sheer will power forcing yourself back on, but perhaps a few of you have some special mind tricks to get you back and on track.

I too find this very hard. I used to run 5K every other day, and do some other exercises too. Now, I only run 3K and I tend to take some days off if I can. I feel lazy now once I get passed by people who used to be behind me.

Honestly the best way is if you can find other people who can help motivate you to stay in shape. Like a running partner. Speaking of staying in shape are there any off post gyms out there? Like near the Chatan area :D

Yea, I've been off and on too. Like P Chan said, find someone run or workout with you. You'll find that even if you both feel like not doing it you will guilt each other into it more often than not. Cheat days are fine...just as long as they don't turn out to be cheat months, lol. Also try to do something you enjoy.

Have you ever watched that show, The Biggest Loser, Fonze? I'm not fat, but we always watch it. Encouraging to see those people work hard at reaching their goals.

Rich people who have enough money to hire private chefs and personal trainers to keep them focused and motivated and no need to work a 9~5 job have no excuse for being fat. So when these people show up at the ranch to work that weight off I feel for them -- particularly thinking that when they get back home and a year after the show, most of them probably put back a considerable amount of the weight they lost back on.

I just have to DO it. I can't think about it, plan it over and set the fresh start for the next Monday or whatever day next week or the 1st day of the month fast approaching.

I just say ok, I am doing this! And I start same day or if it is late, the next am.
I already know what I like and I know what works and I have to do it.
Just cold-turkey.

I am one of those log junkies so everything goes logged. I actually found this website..Sparkpeople (http://sparkpeople.com) that has a it set up so you can log your exercise & food online. I have heard of another site that is more simple/bare bones but I am used to the SP version and don't see the need to switch.

I haven't watched it but I have heard about it they do the people from all over the country and they work for however long & do competitions and who ever loses the most wins....
the celebrity one is Celebrity Fit Club ( I think) I actually saw Cletus Judd on an interview not too long ago and he was on CFC and they showed him before CFC and then of course at the show promoting his album and he has actually kept it up rather faithfully.

But I also wonder if these people make real/lasting changes from looking on line the shows are working on following up with people and many it appears, do keep it up.

I find the driving force that keeps me exercising is age. With my work schedule and at 60, 61 in November, if I don't keep in shape I'm in trouble.
During the day I'm a full time auto mechanic and at night I clean office buildings. If I didn't exercise 7 days a week I probably couldn't do it.
