What is the format for cell phone ringtones here in Japan? I want to create my own, but I need to make sure that the software I'm using will be compatible.

I'm using docomo FOMA

actually I have found the extensions used by docomo...I guess I'm looking for someone that has successfully made their own ring tones and what software did they use to do it?

I was about to suggest the docomo thing, a buddy of mine had some custom ones done and he had that kind of phone. Not sure how he did it though. :(

I know how to use i-mode to download ringtones, but I would prefer to use songs that I already have, and convert them. Thanks for the reply though.

He bought a phone from the European market and it came with the software that can convert it for all Motorola phones. And that is how he does his.

Wish I could be more helpful, but I am not a techie.

I've downloaded a few programs this week, and tried them out, but they do not support the format used by docomo. I'm gonna try a few more later this week, and ask a few of my younger Japanese friends if they have a program that will work.

Thanks Temp...I'll look at it more closely later. That site looks familiar, I think maybe I checked it out before, but when I tried to use the software they tried to charge me an extra $1.50 for the tone. I think I need an additional cable to download the songs straight from my pc to my phone...that will bypass the charges.

I'll let you know if it works.

What a pain!

Always gotta look for those additional charges.

Boost does the cable to connect the phone directly to the PC to utilize the tracks we have/he edited.
