*This list is not all inclusive...some were left off, and some others probably should have been left off as well!*

WTF?! There's a gay and lesbian history month but there's no caucasian American history month? They've also gone with the non-PC "Black History Month"... Whatever happened to "African American"?

July seems to be lacking. Let's drop it in July.

yeah I was thinking July or August would be good!

I guess you're right. Caucasion would mean anyone from Europe right?

At least caucasions found all these horrible diseases, some of which they brought to the new world. J/K

Thats pretty sad when IBM(irritable bowl syndrome gets a month) and caucasions don't.

Holy crappities that's a lot of celebrating of pointless stuff. NAT'L HOT TEA MONTH?! At least it's in January, a cold month. Yeesh.

I'm all for a Caucasian-American History Month to add to the list. Where's the petition or whatever to sign? I'm not even 100% Caucasian.

The race month concept is outdated. Rather than add another one, eliminate them all officially. Celebrate diversity daily.

Might be good to list inventions by white folks. :p

Everything Microsoft. Yeah, they may have stolen most of their technology, but hey, who cares. They pulled it off. The world would suck without Windows and Excel.

True that. We're all the same color under this skin.

And in the meantime let's eliminate all the other "heritage" months as well.

I was thinking that you would pick up on the fact that I was poking fun as the whole idea! There are too many damn awareness months out there.

The whole idea started when I went to Taco Bell for lunch today and they were giving discounts to hispanics to celebrate Hispanic heritage month!

MAC doesn't crash and need reinstallng as much as Windows. Or have you guys finally gotten that problem fixed?

MAC is cool. Think different!

Yes, it is true. And we get money handed to us for free when blacks are not around. There was an in depth undercover investigation documenting the reality of this. Look here:

I can't remember the last time I ever actually had problems with my windows. Last few times my computer crashed, it was a hardware problem.

Thinking different has nothing to do with an OS!

I've heard so many dumb reasons for buying macs. I don't even want to get into it lmao. To each his own. I'm just giving you a hard time. Mac's always seem to be bought up by the uh, hmmm, eccentrics... :o

I'd be interested in seeing them do this here for Asian month (or whatever they're calling it these days). HA! I would so be there. I'd probabkly be the only Asian though. :p LOL... this amuses me.

DocP which month is Japanese Heritage month at Taco Bells again? Gotta treat the whole in-laws clan some day. Let's see, how this works -

Burritos wa go ju ko mochikaeri, onegaishimasu.
Ikura desu ka? Is that with the discount?
You know it's Japanese Heritage Month, right?
You gave it to Hispanics so my wife and her clan gets it too.
By the way, when's your Caucasian-American month?

Hey, when they tell me, I'll let you know.

Nice list you comprised there DrP. :)
Had some time on your hands?

If we do the American-Caucasian month we would likely get viewed as being....(whole long list of explicit and derogatory words could fit there centering on our being inconsiderate in some way)

Honestly the whole awareness month stuff is really annoying.
I agree with Ry- it's a daily thing.
No amount of monthly awareness is going to "fix" people just being ignorant.

good original question to start the thread.

there's likely no caucasion awareness month for one primary reason.

africa is a continent from which many people from various west african nations had been captured and sold into slavery and shipped off to american shores. not blaming the captors (africans themselves) nor the buyers (european americans) here; just putting out a fact.

today, the white majority in america - that still maintains the vast socioeconomic and political capital - can sometimes fail to remember the early struggle of americans whose ancestors had built this nation in captivity. these forebearers of slaves today, nevertheless, still experience some measures of inequality and racism and intimidation.

a single month set aside for a brief history lesson seems a small price to pay to remember how our nation was built.

ya'll would probably agree that some folks sometimes forget history. even a glance at the extemist in the highest seat of power in iran would like to forget that the holocaust even happened.

even in the face of hard evidence, we have people all around us who'd like to ignore facts of history.

Yeah what would be the point of bringing out a bunch of cupcakes and start handing them out if you don't have enough for everyone. In this case the white kid doesn't get a cupcake:D And there's more than just Europeans to consider when you're talking about Caucasians;)

As whites being the majority and in power, it does seem a little strange to "pat one's self on the back", so to speak, by establishing a caucasion-american month, but I don't suffer from "whitey guilt" AND who in the world could say that caucasions don't deserve it? Except for all the people who hate our guts for being in power......

these forebearers of slaves today, nevertheless, still experience some measures of inequality and racism and intimidation.

Maybe they do, but as long as we've got Vietnamese boat people, Cuban refugees, and illegal immigrants in the U.S. who came here with zilch, hit the ground running and became wealthy, I'm not feeling sorry for anyone who was born here and claims they just can't make it. You just gotta kick ass, be focused and don't look back.
