Hello everyone. I just purchaced a German Lute and looking for anyone that knows how to play to give me some lessons. I play guitar at an intermediate level, but I know thats comparing apples to oranges. If anyone is aware of Lute instructor in okinawa please send me a message and let me know. Thank you.

I know a chick that knows how to play the skin flute. I could ask her to give you some lessons. In a couple hours you could be playing the skin flute like a pro!

If playing the skin flute is up your alley then go for it dude. Not my cup of tea. Let me know how those lessons treat you. I heard it can get rather messy. Appreciate the smart arsh comment though, makes my day to know that out of all the people that could respond to this, someone with the IQ of a Rat responds and doesn't know the difference between a lute and his own penis. But hey, each man for his own. Definately makes me feel smarter. Thanks for the IQ boost!

Hey bro, he was joking, you should probably calm down.
Especially if you want something from JU, talking shit to the regulars is definatley not the way to get it.
but on a more serious note, you sound like a professional skinflute player already, just saying.

Playing an istrument, especially guitar is meaningless, the question is can your read sheet music?if so, what clefs?
(If you are unsure what I mean by clefs, then you cannot read sheet music)
Get an idea of where your musical ability is and what level of teacher/instruction is needed.
Because we don't know if you need a lute teacher,or a music teacher first.

Drummer:
Jr. Highschool - highschool Drums.
1991-1994 Quicksilver Country Band from Roxboro, NC Drummer
Boot Camp Marching Band - Drums
1995-1997 Great Lakes Illinois Marching Band - drums
1998-2001 USS. Nimitz MWR, Classic Rock band and Country Band drummer.
Piano: 1985-present
Accordian: Can play a few tunes (and yes I own one)
Tin Flute: (not skin flute) Playing for about 3 months now.
Guitar: been playing since highschool off and on.
Currently enrolled in Jazz Piano Lessons through Sunset Music School learning improvising and Jazz concepts.
Pan Flutes: Fiddle them, not much skill required.
Oh not to mention I have a working recording Studio at my house, if anyone would like to see pictures and a list of equipment, more then happy to offer.
And I definately know what a clef is, ie. bass clef and treble clef, but I Think you were refering to what keys but I might be wrong on this one.
So I have a fairly full resume in the music department hence why I would go and spend so much money on buying a Lute and I'm sure youtube will provide me with enough material to get started (thats how I've learned the Irish Tin flute) along with books and I'm a paid member of the Lute society so will have plenty of resources. It would be nice though to have a instructor. In Mainland Japan there is the JLS (Japanese Lute Society) which has instructors and I have all ready talked with them. They don't know of anyone in Okinawa, and I'm sure there probably isn't anyone, but just in the hopes I am wrong I figured I would make a post. Someone might be friends of a friend of a friend who is married to a woman who has a friend that knows how to play lute.

Then you don't necessarily need an instructor, and might want to advertise for someone who just plays one and has a decent resume of playing to teach you, you have a much better chance at finding that.

Its shame you can't just post an honest remark in the forums these days without having to get lectured by someone who thinks they know more about what you meant to say then yourself. Maybe I am just getting old and Nieve.....

On a good note... My message paid off. I found a performer in Tokyo that performs Lute music throughout Japan and we have been in contact and he is willing to teach me how to play the Lute via Skype Video. Works for me. Now only if my instrument would hurry up and arrive.... I did get a Tabor Pipe in the mail today and will have some a Tabor drum in a few days so it gives me something to mess around with until it comes in.

^Sounds good. I'm glad everything worked out in you're favor. It's takes a little bit for things to be shipped here.

Its actually more like tights then thongs.... or if you want to be really correct... hosen... But hey, in 1500's wearing hosen was the style, not to mention that huge Cod piece that looked like a sports groin cup covered in stylish fabric. They purposely stuffed their cod pieces for attention..... and all this time we pick on women who stuff...
