How often do you get your credit score checked?
Has anyone tried the www.annualcreditreport.com (http://www.annualcreditreport.com) ?
I get mine checked by a creditwatch site on a regular basis ever since there was an error saying I owed money on an account for 12 months that was closed and paid off the entire time.

I never get mine checked.....last time was when I bought this house, 7 years ago. Yes, there were some mistakes and various B.S. on it that I had to correct. Geez, one of the mistakes was that we were over 30 days late on one of our previous house payments!! That's HUGE!!.....I mean, when you're trying to get another home loan, that's instant death!! If my wife hadn't kept a stack of cancelled checks, we wouldn't have been able to prove them wrong......B of A scumbags.
How does this sound?.....your loan company has you on the hook for a sh***y adjustable loan, so you try to shop around for a better, lower fixed-rate loan. Then when it's time to make the move,.......suddenly, a 30-day late history pops up!!
Hmmmmmm........how convenient! B of A is run by the devil.

If you have a credit card from a well known company generally they will offer a credit report to you quarterly for a fee and you can get a free one, once a year from the credit bureaues.
Its definitely something you need to keep a check on though. Banks are not angels and they will try to mess you over. Always keep records of what you are paying off and how often you pay it. Even if the bank itself isn't trying to mess you over, there are individuals working there that like to dip their hands in others people's money and they know how to do it. Don't let anybody get away with anything as far as your credit is concerned. Make as much noise about it as you can.

Oh shit... not cool. It says I have an mortgage opened around July 2009 and I DON'T! Craptastic! Need to head to legal with a paid credit report ASAP. Thanks Blues for tuning me on to this!

Wow, I think that Annual Cred Report site does that on purpose to get you to pay for a report. Holy cow was I freaking out. I paid for a report and says no such thing of a mortgage being under my name. Phew... >.<
My score was actually a bit better than I thought. Paying off the little credit I have now will help boost it 50-60 points. There are a few claims that I have to dispute or that I am completely unaware about that date back all the way to 2005. Hmm. Again, thanks Blues.

i recall my credit watch site doing the same thing, saying a possibility of mortgage, but nothing came about it.
did you get the paid one from the same place?

I went through Experian who was affiliated with the site. It was $26.95 for a detailed report and they cross reference through 3 different sources. Some of the creditors have numbers provided as well. That helped me out big time since I have not received any account information or collections from the said delinquencies. It will also show you which active accounts you have had in the past that are now closed as well.

Be sure you cancel the monthly fee those places charge you. They say it's a one-time only thing, but we've been charged monthly for a while now by the big three, because husband hasn't cancelled them yet.

Very cool credit card technology. Make your wallet smaller!
What Would Happen To Wallet Bulge If This All-In-One Credit Card Were Real? (http://gizmodo.com/5388110/what-would-happen-to-wallet-bulge-if-this-all+in+one-credit-card-were-real)

Sure, some of that wallet bulge comes from old-fashioned cash, but let's face it, credit cards (http://gizmodo.com/tag/creditcards/) and receipts are the big contributors. With the One Card concept though, you'd have everything accessible by turning a knob on a single card.
Dreamed up by Kim Young Suk, the One Card is almost too great to ever actually become reality. It would come with a media card slot to add credit card (http://gizmodo.com/tag/creditcard/) information, a knob to select which card you want the magnetic strip to mimic, and a display which would show either the selected card or corresponding receipts.
Only trouble would be that you're kinda screwed if you manage to demagnetize the card somehow. [Yanko Design (http://www.yankodesign.com/2009/10/22/all-in-one-credit-card/)]
